I9 9900k

So bigger box, longer warranty and that's it?
Does intel still pretend there is only one year with OEM?
Ocuk are advertising the oem with a 1yr warranty. As far as i'm aware other retailers do the same so intel must be selling it as such.

But yeah, bigger box and 3 years warranty vs the oem/tray version is all that is different.

That's amazing, it is almost like a go faster strip for the processor itself!
Glad to see Intel have got the packaging sorted, as we all know that long term what you look for in a bloody expensive hot processor.

why wouldy ou need a i9 9000k at £750 +cooler just to beat a i7 6 core cpu clocked at 5 ghz o and £500 just for a motherboard lol and £ 3000 fof 2 rtx + £ 800 for memmory lol

No one 'needs' it, that's not the point. Some people just want the very best and don't care how much it costs or give any consideration to value in respect to cost/performance. This is true of anything of course, not just PC related.

The price is high, especially given the supply issues and subsequent gouging, and for many i expect need isn't a factor.

None-the-less, 16 threads running at 5GHz is a tasty proposition.

Tasty for what though? I mean, it's all a bit strange when you think about it and consider what it's actually offering from a functional point of view, keeping in mind that extremely high price? Benchmarks speak for themselves, from a cost/performance stand point, it just doesn't make sense. It is almost like this mythical 5Ghz barrier has a taken on a whopping premium entirely unto itself, for no reason other than just being a desirable number. For a small premium, once could argue, well, so what... but we're not talking a small premium here, far from it. Humans are a strange bunch sometimes.

fell free lol but if you have the itch bet on cabon below 5nm in 20 years

It is possible to keep the temperatures down at 5ghz. I've got the volts down on mine and the temperatures aren't bad, though my 9900 is under a water loop. I'm having to tweak for AVX loads still though, that really makes it run hot.

No problem with temps on my 9900k and Aorus Ultra.

6hrs of BF1 and COD BO and temps rarely go above 60 on 3440 x 1440 Max Settings

If money isn't a problem just get one and enjoy the upgrade.
