Id dead bird

looks like you have a new pet :D

Just don't let anyone use any dodgy time manipulating devices on it or you'll find yourself washed away in a tide of dinosaur diarrhoea

No worries, glad it was of some use, looking at those pictures brings back a lot of memories *furiously rubbing something in my eye*.

Don't give it any more milk, most animals are lactose intolerant and it could give it the runs which will dehydrate it. It's a myth that you can give animals milk, especially hedgehogs - bread and milk are the worst things for them as it can kill them - (just a bit of info for anyone who feeds hedgehogs).

Hope it's survived the night! If it has it will have woken up really hungry and looks to be about eight days old, between the ages of 7-14 days they imprint on whatever they see and feeds them. So be careful not to get to close to it when you aren't feeding it etc., if it imprints and thinks it's human it will have trouble intergrating into the wild when it's released.

Tell me about it with the animal sanctuaries, we had to travel a similar distance to drop ours off there. It's a fantastic place though, it's set in woodland and is as secure a site as it's possible to get for birds and they are reintroduced into the wild slowly, it'll be well away there if it survives that far.

Good morning campers :) It's made it through the night and eaten a lot more meat this morning and made a lot of mess to clean up!

I'm trying to get hold of that sanctuary now TheBigCheese but the emergency mobile is "currently unavailable" :(

Ha ha, brilliant picture! :D

Well done for getting it through the night, it's not an easy thing to do!

Try the standard phone number, there will probably be people there to look after the birds everyday.

Wow they are really good mimics, I knew they could do ringing phones and car alarms but human words is fairly cool.

Major props to the OP for getting this far with it. Starlings are dissappearing fast, I never see any massive flocks now like I used to so another one alive is a good thing, keep it up!

Got through to janet at the sanctuary, taking it there now! An hour drive though, will need to stop and feed it

It survived the night and looks healthy this morning, can't see any reason why it shouldn't be fine.

That rescue place is brilliant, they'll be able to deworm, deflea and all the rest, definitely give it the best chance.

Dropped Chirp off about an hour ago, stopped for some food on the way back now :) stopped and fed it 3 times on the way lol. Was certainly getting better at accepting food and was a lot livelier, kept jumping onto my hand etc :)

bit sad to let it go but it was in very good hands :)

Get the hoover out!

lol you should see what hedgehogs are like if you ever have to nurse one back to health (we must have had about 10 now), they are host to MASSIVE fleas, whizzing between the spines, it's not a problem though as they are hedgehog specific fleas.
