Idiot girl who fled to Syria wants to come back

Reasonably happy with the official response tbh, if she can get to a Country with consular support then we'll see what happens, but we won't be offering assistance with that. If she manages to make it on her own then follow the law as laid out, block migration while she's investigated, if she has done anything that would allow us to revoke citizenship then do it, otherwise repatriate and prosecute for anything that comes up. Begin the process of removing the child for its own protection.

As much as I like the idea of people like her not being allowed back into the Country I'm very aware of the impact that could have on future cases that aren't as seemingly clear cut as this. Follow the law but do nothing at all above what we're required to.

She's a criminal and joined a terrorist group, enemies of our country. To let her back in would be gross negligence, don't even bring her back just to imprison her we don't need the expense. Further more she has no regret so would she help again in the future? seems like a certainty to me so now we just let a spy and terrorist sympathizer back into the country.

No I don't want her here. Germany like taking in terrorist refugee's let them have her.

British citizen , popular opinion like it or not she'll be coming home , eventually .

I believe joining a known terrorist organisation is a criminal offence in the UK , is it not in Syria ? Can she not be extradited back to Syria once she is back in the UK to answer for her crimes ?

How did 3 fifteen year-old girls travel without the parents permissions ?

Why have the parents not been held accountable , sorry I don't understand how you can be brainwashed or radicalised from your own bedroom .

I'm suspecting and knowing the area that the parents don't speak much if any English at all . I grew up "on the Roman " ( area of Bethnal Green )as a kid and there was no attempt from the Pakistani or Bangladeshi community to assimilate into UK culture whatsoever.

Where was Prevent in all of this and the schools . It just all stinks .
Because IIRC they had assisstance from the people that groomed them, and it doesn't require parental permission in the UK to use an airplane ticket and the airlines don't have to ring the parents and check for everyone under 18 (it isn't uncommon for under 18's to fly, and airlines iirc only require notification/make special arrangements for unaccompanied children under a specific age).

As has been said you can be groomed from your bedroom, this isn't any different.

Personally given her age when she went (over that of criminal responsibility), and that she's only decided wants to come back now that IS is falling down I'm tempted to say remove her citizenship or when she arrives back put her on trial from treason etc.

you're welcome. you seemed to need help. simple google would have aided (and abbeted) you but i'm happy to be of assistance since that was beyond your capabilities.

I actually cant be arsed arguing with someone who thinks killing someone is the same as supporting it.

I think Syria has a million other problems to resolve before they'd consider trying to extradite a current UK citizen to answer for any crimes she did commit whilst in Syria.

Perhaps this is where the law needs changing.

I agree that it isn't uncommon for under 18's to fly alone, but majority of those will be flying out to see families and will have the parents consent to do so. It shouldn't therefore be too tricky to implement some form of a consent system for those travelling alone under the age of 18.

It would certainly prevent cases like these where the families supposedly didn't know what the girls were trying to do.

They also can't see the irony in calling for someone to be executed because they support a regime that executes people… so I don't blame you for not wanting to argue with them.

Looks like the state have said she can come back. Ultimately a UK citizen and our responsibility. Hope she gets a prison term.

I have no problem with her coming back on the expectation she’ll be charged with something. If anything, at least it may save the life of her child.

You are not a fan of the Nuremberg trials I am guessing.

I'm not a fan of execution.

*edit*
Furthermore, there's a stark difference between someone who supports a regime that executes people, and the leaders of a regime who actually mandate the executions.

Should the leaders of the Nazi regime have been put on trial for the crimes? Absolutely. Should they have been executed? No. I believe life imprisonment without the chance parole would have been a better punishment.

This, but we have a soft useless goverment who will slap her on the hand and tell her "to not do it again", plus she has a baby on the way which will get her more benefits. ;)

She's a British citizen and was a child when she went abroad. I think she has a right to return. She has been naïve and stupid on a scale that is hard to conceive of, though.

I'm not sure she's fit to be a mother, though. And we need to make sure we don't include a right for her husband to follow her.

She was raised in a muslim family, presumably a fairly conservative one given her views.

I wouldn't take that as a guarantee. I knew a girl from a Pakistani background who was the most normal regular Western teenager you could imagine. Her parents were agnostic and modern and had moved away from Pakistan precisely so they could bring their daughter up in a modern developed country and without religious influence. She went away to University and was immediately picked up by it's "Islamic Society" and - honestly the only term I find fitting - programmed her. She started wearing hijab, wouldn't enter any place where there was alcohol, celibacy, learning Arabic, talking about Allah and Islam all the time... It was deeply shocking. And her parents HATED it. They did everything they could to break her out of it short of disowning her. Heart-breaking to see them pleading with her that they'd moved away from Pakistan so she didn't have to do all this stuff. Cult indoctrination is a terrifying thing.

Yes that kind of thing is why China has just said **** it and are trying to put a stop to it. They are brainwashing certain citizens. Though China's methods probably aren't the best.
