well, i know a great number of people who go out for no other reason on the weekend to get totally sloshed. i know that not EVERYONE does it, but i dont think that you can deny that quite a large portion of those u see out on the weekend will be out to get HAMMERED. infact its all that some people talk about
I suppose you are right but I can't say I personally know many people like that. I guess I prefer not to associate with people like that.

She obviously thinks you feel superior by not drinking and doesn't like it.

Anyway I can understand people who don't like to get really drunk, because I don't.

But I find it hard to understand why anyone wouldn't want one or two beers or a glass of wine now and again, to me it's one of lifes great pleasures.

I can't comment for Zip but the reasons I dont drink are-

1. I dont like the feeling of being tipsy or drunk. I like to be in complete control of myself and it just doesnt seem right being drunk.

2. I just dont like the taste of alcohol, Beer is one of the most disgusting things you can drink, same with wine. Alcopops go some way to covering the taste but they still taste like ****.

I know quite a few people who always insist on getting absolutly smashed when they go out or round someones house for a night. These people really annoy me as they spoil the fun for everyone else- tipsy and sober people - as we spend our time having to make nothing gets damaged and that they dont bump into people and get into fights.

Does that make me seem arrogant?

I dont drink either, its caused too much misery for people i know.

If everyone didnt drink , the world would be a better place.

How many people have met while drinking, millions.

Drinking is a great way to relax on a friday/saturday night, you cant beat 6 cans of warsteiner at home watching a dvd or on the 360.

you gotta remember most of the posts in this thread are by teenagers that havent yet truley dicovered the joys of booze, in all its glourious forms.

hence

"it tastes bad" The taste dosnt get better but you learn to accept it :O

How many people have met while drinking, millions.

How many people have got up the duff from a one night stand and ended up single mothers? How many people have been raped under the influence? How many punch ups and illegal activities have occured due to the booze? How many people have been murdered under the influence? How many women have been beaten up by drunk husbands? I could go on and on!

As for people meeting while drinking, if getting ****** is the only someone can meet someone else then we would all be trouble and those types of people need to seriously analyse/improve their social skills. Me and missus met while completely sober, neither of us drink and we have a very strong relationship because of it.

The Pros for not drinking are far more than than for drinking!!

I've started to go out "not drinking" lately. I've had a lot more fun, and not had any problems in the morning (of which there can be numerous after a night of drinking...).

Nope they discovered it but these teenagers are just wierd, and need to get their act together. :D

Drinking is fun, so is driving cars really fast, and so is drugs.

Those unable to meet people without the crutch of dutch courage should possibly be left out of the gene pool.

Similarly, if sucking down a six-pack of synthetic Krautbrau is the pinnacle of your weekend, you might need to reassess your priorities.

Eh? Maybe for you yes, but the majority of others, obviously no.

Drinking is fun! And indeed it is a fact that alcohol helps break down social barriers and gets us uptight Brits actually talking. There are far far more positives to drinking than not. As usual a small minority ruin it for the rest. Have fun, drink, relax! Non drinkers are a little like vegetarians to me.:p

So people that drink don't enjoy the taste either?

Well I can only speak for myself but lets take Vodka for example.

It tastes like fire, it smells of burning nostrils. I dont think ive met too many people that actually Enjoy the flavours and armoas, but the side effects are a bonus..
