I'm down by 140 pounds.

Amazing achievement looking awesome.

Did you build up your walking amount and speed over a steady period of time as you got fitter or start with close to the same distance but got faster?

Awesome! You did it the right way, and it goes to show that if you're motivated you can achieve your targets.

That suit looks great on you, something I really want to do not having a suit that fits for two years. I can't imagine how good it must feel to get to this stage.

Congrats!

I need to get my arse into gear to do the opposite and put on some weight.

Just do the opposite to what Feek did to lose weight, it is very easy :p.

I was always one of these people who thought they couldn't gain weight, but it was largely due to having a physical job. I must have been burning loads of calories being on my feet all day carrying fairly heavy stuff about. Then when I stopped working as much I put on over a stone in a few weeks. I actually prefer myself with this bit of extra weight so have no plan to lose it.

I lost almost 2 stone over a year ago but am still bumping along... started the 5-2 diet and it's starting to drop again. I'm right on the edge of a weight category for paragliding, dammit so need to drop some and keep it down!

I don't want to take the focus off but I've been a constant 13st for a number of years (I'm 5'11 height). My gut seems to be getting bigger even if this isn't correlating to weight gain. Guess I'm just a freak but I'm going to monitor it for a month of 4m walks and see what happens.

This is any muscle you had in your youth deteriorating into fat :)

This above. Body composition can change even if your weight doesn't. Muscle is heavier than fat thus if you stay the same weight but lose muscle and gain fat you will get bigger.

Thanks everyone :D

I've not done this for several years now but goddammit, I'm gonna break out the cake (which I assume you'll decline) and sparklies:
I'll eat the cake, just go for an extra walk at lunchtime to burn it off. That's what I do, if it's a birthday at work (as it was yesterday), I just put in a little extra effort and enjoy myself.

It took a month or so to get up to doing five miles a day and my speed has just gradually increased as I've got fitter. When I started, I didn't believe I'd ever reach 4mph but I now cruise along at just under 4.5mph easily and I can maintain that for a long time.

I won't be switching the walking to running. I don't find it comfortable, I don't enjoy it and if I'm not enjoying what I'm doing, I won't carry on with it. It's like the food I eat. If I'd cut out on all the stuff I like such as pizza once a week and fish 'n' chips on a Friday then I'd never have been able to do this.

Congratulations! :D

It's inspired me to push on with getting rid of the extra couple of stone I could do to lose. Portion size seems to be my biggest problem too. Plus the dog will love the extra walking.

Congratulations mate - you look a lot better for it, and indeed feel better for it! :)

I lost 6 stone in 2011 (used to be 16 at peak) and it was the best thing that I ever done.
