Image quality Plus speed is reason enough to go 8800.

That is part the opening post. We know these forums well enough to know why a thread like this was started and how it will go on. .

I started this thread because I was fed up with people dissing people buying top cards in a hardware enthusiast forum.

I just don't get it?

@Firegod, can you post some ingame shots that display how those circles relate to better IQ? I won't pretend to understand those pictures lol.
I nearly missed your post there after trying to wade through a lot of useless posts. I thought this thread was about the IQ and speed of the G80 and it's gone totally off the plot!

Anywho, I don't really know of any in-game comparison shots, but there should be as it'd be nice to put that circle thing into actual pictures. :)

Jeez, is Easyrider really Elrazur? His posts are THAT annoying.

I also love the way that the 8800GTX owners enjoy posting 3dmark scores. Yep, that's the one, SYNTHETIC benchmark scores.

In real games, the 8800GTX doesn't justify it's price. It simply gives you slightly better framerates at the high end, which 95% of people simply won't notice. "Hey Bob, my 8800GTX can do 110fps in FEAR whereas your X1900XTX can only do 100! Y00 l0se sucka!"

Then again, given how many people have started to realise that the card is just for posing, we were due a thread like this, another Easyrider "I have money and you don't" kind of thread.

They come up every time he buys a damn card.

Seriously, why do you care? If people are happy with their latest purchase, surely you can just be content with that, rather than trying to rain on their parade?

The IQ is outstanding when it comes to AF. Go read the guru3d review & see for yourself. It blasts all other cards IQ out the water!

I've read that review, was just saying there should be like a game comparison bit of like "This scene on the 79xx series vs the same scene on the G80". :)

I think that Tute fails to understand that poeple like benchmarking pc's
Running super PI,
Overclocking

Getting the best possible performance out of the latest tech.

Posting 3d mark scores is not posing. Its a hardfact of benching and comparing peoples PC's.

Speaking of which, when are we going to see some benchies?

Basically, He also see's quadcore as a waste of time too, Same reason..Nothing uses 4 cores... (I believe when he says nothing, He refers to games, as i'm sure most people know a few apps will take advantage :) )

supreme commander was written for quad core as was stated by gas powered games:

"Gas Powered Games has had the opportunity with our Supreme Commander title to be on the leading edge of working with Intel’s Quad Core. The performance and experience enhancements we’ve seen implementing our multi-threaded architecture on Intel’s multi-core systems has shown us that these technologies will represent the minimum bar for the future of advanced gaming." -- Kent McNall, Gas Powered Games

hmmmm that may be but still if this game is very graphic heavy I am very confident with a largeish res and maxed out game the frames will still be dictated by the GPU than the CPU. I bet the quad core gets maybe 1% more frames than the core's brother conroe when running at any decent graphical setting and not low at 800x600.

it is true its stil a v.graphically intensive game, but having more than 1 core does make quite a big difference in the beta

im running at 1680x1050 4aa max all and it runs lovely....until the cpu starts to calculate AI for lots of units then coz im only on single core 3500+ it slows down quite considerably, I can tel its cpu not gfx related coz it stil does it even when im not looking at any units....it still seems smooth in a graphical way but is jerky coz the comp is busy doing AI rubbish

and also i think SLI 7800's although no longer tip top can still handle it

whereas people with lesser gfx cards but dual core cpus seem to be getting on much better with it

I was more making the point that ATM I kinda agree that quad core is pointless (gaming wise) at this period in time. Dual cores came out what feels like 2years ago and I have only just recently got one, being a gamer did I miss out not having a dual core for 2years????...not at all. All my cash went to the GPU.

I see what you are saying about lots of units though and I am glad that finally another core will come in useful. So me thinks keep upgrading my GPU's over the next 2 years but only get quad core when it really makes a difference to the games I play :) .

ps where could I get hold of that beta ;) also I would like to see whether the stutter could be more to do with the fact it is beta. I remember 'TIMESHIFT' running rubbish on absolutely top end rigs, getting like 100FPS but stuttering and jerking like mad.

Just stop moaning, so what someone in outer mongolia bought a G80 for £500, how the **** does that affect you.

I take it you were not talking to me, specifically but the moaners in this thread with that post?

Im happy for everyone that got a 8800 and is happy - hopefuly we won't see any problems in the future.

As soon as they hit £300 mark I'm in :)

hmmmm new graphics card or get my daughter that new i pod and phone she wants ?? :p

Get the GTX as you can't justify spending hundreds of pounds on a couple of electrical gadgets like phones and ipods. ;)

You could say you will get them for her next year when the ipod and phone releases are refreshed. :D
