As soon as they hit £300 mark I'm in![]()
deadkomodo said:I was more making the point that ATM I kinda agree that quad core is pointless (gaming wise) at this period in time. Dual cores came out what feels like 2years ago and I have only just recently got one, being a gamer did I miss out not having a dual core for 2years????...not at all. All my cash went to the GPU.
I see what you are saying about lots of units though and I am glad that finally another core will come in useful. So me thinks keep upgrading my GPU's over the next 2 years but only get quad core when it really makes a difference to the games I play.
ps where could I get hold of that betaalso I would like to see whether the stutter could be more to do with the fact it is beta. I remember 'TIMESHIFT' running rubbish on absolutely top end rigs, getting like 100FPS but stuttering and jerking like mad.
MuSsEr said:the beta was available to fileplanet subscribers only then there were a few hundred free cd keys which were released but they went v.quick
dont think u can get it atm....through fileplanet that is....which is of course where i got mine from![]()
Vita said:Tbh, people who are moaning about the money, are either annoyed that they can't get one, or annoyed that someone else has one.

If OCUK put a message out tonite saying first 500 people to email them will get a free 8800gtx, I bet all the moaners (ie. TUTU) having a go at Easyrider would send the email...ANYONE on this forum (ie TUTE), if offered a free 8800gtx WOULD accept. Its just petty jealousy people slating those that pay top dollar for top end kit. Plain and simple.
Easyrider, I am glad you have the G80, really pi$$ certain people off, and buy a second one and then tell them how double great life is in SLI !!! LOL
Tute said:I'd sell it, pick up an X1900XTX, and spend the rest, FYI.
Don't assume you know me.
benktlottie said:This explains all the bo11ox youve spouted during this thread then...youre an ATI fanboy ! LOL
Tute said:Don't assume you know me.
Tute said:Is a reason like *the X1900XTX at £200 in the clearance section is a friggin steal at that price* not a good enough one?
benktlottie said:Not good enough if you want the most advance graphics card...
I would still get the 8800gtx over the X1900XTX
Tute said:I wouldn't see a free 8800GTX as a free 8800GTX.
I'd see it as a free £500.
What I spent that on is up to me.
If I want the best "bang for buck" card, then that's my choice.
Even at a push, i'd take 2 7900GTOs. Still save myself £150.
[Edit] Typos.
Tute said:I believe the card is a waste, and i'd deter anybody with an X1800 or higher from upgrading to one,
benktlottie said:Having just read some more of your previous posts, I had to smile. Youre very bitter towards others. And argumentative. Perhaps you are having a bad week? If so mate, stop posting until youre in a better mood.
At the end of the day, what you choose to buy is your choice, and nobody in this thread has slated your choice of hardware. Perhaps you should respect other views? If buying stuff the day it comes out isnt you then cool, but dont harp on at others that are. You mentioned "e-penis" and "synthetic benchmarks" in a negative tone in previous posts, but some people love that! Just chill out man, and try to enjoy the threads where people are telling you what bleeding edge tech is capable of doing. I'm sure if you had a free 8800gtx, you feel content watching what it could do...
As ATHANOR said earlier, "Personaly I can't figure out the motivation for the posts. If you're happy with DX9 and / or your current card then great, just let the guys that have made the jump have fun and enjoy their new technology."
easyrider said:Now I have heard it all.
What about people who game at higher resolutions?
A X1800 is just not fast enough.
Your posts are nothing but trolling.
They are inaccurate and full of nonsense.
You are nothing but a FANBOY with clouded views.
LMAO![]()
Hilarious.
Tute said:I'm not sure why people are calling me bitter and argumentative just because I like posting my opinion. This is after all an internet forum, and i'm entitled to put what I think.
What's so frustrating for me is i'm trying to understand why people pay what they do for this card. Take this for an example.
OcUK MSI GeForce 7900 GTO SILENT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Pop two of these in an SLi board, and clock them to GTX. As shown in the Anandtech benchmarks, this gives you pretty much identical performance as the 8800GTX. But it saves the buyer £160.
Even if you went Crossfire, which appears to be slightly faster than the two GTO's.
HIS ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Plucked from the clearance section, at £205 each, it still saves you £90. Not as impressive a saving as the GTO's, but as I said, according to benchmarks the Crossfire setup seems to lead.
I admit, i've had an awful week, but you have to admit, I do have a point here? The bleeding edge of performance is with 2 8800GTX's in SLi. But, if you're not going with two of them, then Crossfire with two X1950XTX's is the next fastest (although they are still overpriced compared to the X1900's).
I'm assuming also that Quad SLi doesn't work with the GX2.

Two slots filled.
You are talking carp.Stop it my sides are hurting.
Suggesting two x1900 in xfire to save 90 quid is a nonsense.
