New Surface pro 6
Short story long...
After loads of research, comparing the surface go 2 m3, the samsung tab S6 and the surface pro 7, I finally decided upon the surface pro 7 (i3 / 4gb ram / 128gb ssd) to take on holidays with me instead of my gaming laptop as I didn't need anything too powerful. I was literally on the way to the shop to buy it when I stopped in another shop on the way and saw the Surface pro 6 in an ex display cabinet complete with keyboard cover and pen at $1399, now, after researching them, i knew that there's not that much difference between the 6 and 7, so I asked to take a look, and this happened to be the i5 with 8gb RAM, so i thought this already represented much better value as it was saving me $400 already for the equivalent '7' with keyboard and pen, so any, feeling cheeky, I was about to ask if they would knock another $100 off it, but I didn't need to, the sales guy came back and said he'd just checked it on the stores inventory and the price was being lowered to $898, I literally said HERE, TAKE MY MONEY, and started forcing bank notes into his hand :D

That view is ridiculous.

Terrible picture of poles ,photography basics over my head again but these poles are on special with lidl ,aluminium ,seem well built and i like the quick release catches rather than the awkward twisting you normally have to do.
never considered poles but did the camino last year(500 miles across Pyrenees then across northern Spain) and its an upper body workout as well as a knee and hip saver
gave them a little go up the road ,where Ross poldarks cottge was shot bbc ,near case hill ,may wander towards Port isaac today

I damaged my usual air conditioner a year or two back. It works, but needs things jamming switches in place to stop it thinking the water reservoir is full. I decided I'd had enough of all that and splashed on a new unit.

The new unit is a little more compact, quieter, I think more efficient, 12,000BTU (like the last... overkill for a room my size) and certainly does a great job of cooling my bedroom!

Collected it today, V10 power.

I am sure I am in a minority, but I have never got the car thing, don't own one, but if I did would be the cheapest most reliable A to B I could (and I have owned nice cars in the past, when I was younger and cared). Just seem like a waste of good money - Generally all about selling more than people need. Over-sold, over-specced, depreciate and offer no long-term value. Sorry. Appreciate for many it is a fab hobby, must be, but I have never got it.

Yeah, of course not everyone will like the same things. I'm sure you spend money on some things that others would be confused by. That's what makes life so great, right? :)

I love my car, it's not a hobby by any means. I think it's how it/they can make you feel. A cheap, reliable, A to B wouldn't make me feel like mine does at times, so doesn't really compare and that's why we/I 'do it' :)

I guess something comparable for me might be art. I don't really get it. People will collect paintings. I don't really get it. I don't really feel anything looking at it... but I'm sure others do. 'Live gigs'. I don't get it. Uncomfortable. Expensive. Miles away. Not as good quality as a perfect recording in amazing headphones. I don't care for the 'atmosphere'. Obviously many, many do.

Anyway, today's wall decoration are the Jabra Elite 75t totally wireless headphones. The Jabra Elite Sport were my preferred earbuds for a long time, and I know others thought the 65t were the best available, so it will be interesting to see how these perform.

On a practical level, it's creature comfort.
On a fun level, it's fun to have a fast car.
On a vanity level it is bragging to strangers.
It can be one or all of the above.

I wouldn't rule out the fun of owning and tinkering with something you enjoy. For some it's mechanical, and they like to tune and maintain their machine. Other like to clean and care for their luxury car, and keep it in good condition. It's an interesting subject because I have intentionally avoided buying car tools. I already have a house full of carpentry tools, electronics tools and computers/tech. I'm the kind of person who would tinker with my car and DIY any servicing etc, but I just don't want to start down that path :P

I get all that, but I knew many guys when I was younger who had amazing expensive cars, but lived with their mums, or in a small bedsit, or house, because it sucked up all their money! I find better ways to spend cash, not ragging on cars - or the hobby, just struggle with the sense of it, unless u have money to burn, and most dont.
