You bought a building?
Ah nuts, thought this was the random picture threadYou bought a building?![]()
Glad you saw sense. I didn't want to dump on the people saying they had good experiences but I've had and given up on far too many sub-£25 digital callipers as they're just not reliableI wasn't happy with the caliper I posted earlier, it wasn't consistent. I'd measure something, get a reading and then measure it again, only to find a different value. The zero also had a habit of drifting off which is probably a big part of the reason.
So I sent it back.
Bought a Moore & Wright MW110-15DBL instead. They do two versions, one plastic and one metal, I went with the more expensive metal one.
Immediate impression is that it's better built and doesn't have the same inconsistency.
It also does metric, imperial and fractions.

Isn't there a simple fix for this? I found the other one I had turned on if it thought the gauge moved. The simple fix was just to turn the lock screw when putting it back in the box.and keep turning back on when not in use, which destroys the battery prematurely.
Yup, that's what it was doing.Mostly I find they lose zero too quickly
They always seem to find a way to turn back on. Just one way or another I ended up dissatisfied with them. The only digital callipers I've been happy with are expensive ones at places of work, for some reason. I have 3 or 4 cheap ones in drawers or that I've given away.Isn't there a simple fix for this? Exactly. The original name in precision measuring!I use mitutoyo gauges in the garage and they're brilliant.
New handie.

Although they look nice and are easy to read those big displays are rather delicate in a workshop environment. I've smashed more than one with just a gentle accidental tap against my lathe chuck. Neither were M&W brand but the screen was thin glass (!) so just asking for trouble.I wasn't happy with the caliper I posted earlier, it wasn't consistent. Camping fridge! For that one time a year we go camping… but my old cool box with the peltier cooler is pretty old now. And it’s really not that effective over a weekend. This thing should keep the beers and bacon perfectly cool
