The entire top plate is a magnetic zinc alloy faceplate so yes it's heavy metal, the buttons and lower housing are polycarbonate plastic but done really well and feel great. The whole controller can't be metal otherwise that affects the wireless performance of course.
The joysticks are metal though, electroplated and then finished to the same worn effect.
Just avoid the sugar-free ones, they gave me the terrible cramping ***** on holiday after I destroyed a whole pack in about an hour.Partner gets through about 3 boxes of these a week and they were reduced to 80% so stocked up. She might have a problem.

I think that's one of the side effect of sugar free sweets for some people, it might even say it on the box or packet!
