Nice one, Russ! What do you have to do to get one? I'm thinking: proof of need to own a shotgun, gun safe, visit by the local plod's FO?

Yeah exactly that, except I don't have a gun cabinet because I don't want to buy one yet. I've only just got into clay shooting and having a cert halves the price of going along to shoots and you don't need someone to supervise you then either. I'll just a hire one in the meantime (which is free as it's run by a gun shop) and if I actually like it after 6 months I'll look into buying one and then getting a visit from the FO again the inspect the cabinet.

Well with that photo I'd certainly listen to you if you carried a shotgun :p

:D

What's funny is that I'm also in the process of applying for permission from the CAA to operate a drone commercially. Not a great combo.

Crikey I had to wait 6 months for both my previous renewals you have a very efficient police force!

Yeah, it was really quick. I sent off my application on the Friday before I went on holiday and whilst I was away I got a voicemail from the FO. Two days after I got back (9 days after posting the application) he visited and basically signed me off there and then. The two months has then just been from that to actually getting it but it was really quick to start with.

I'm sure they might, however this is a UK based forum. I'm sure the British like stuff that the Japanese think is wierd too.

Anyway, this is heading OT. Again. So I'll stop now.

No, no. Continue. I want to see you break down into a xenophobic daily mail esque rant about the Japanese and their evil perversions in cartoons.

No chance. Jog on and troll somewhere else.

Come on, you know you want to. You were so close too.

Or you can just sit and whinge about what other people choose to spend their money on, repeatedly, while remaining completely ignorant to what it is you're talking about in the first place. Hey! That's the OCUK way! Cha cha cha, real smooth.

You don't need any reason to own one and can own as many as you like. You'll need a reference merely to confirm your identity (like for passports) and to state they don't see any reason for you not to own one. I got my boss at work to do it.

A safe is a good idea but again I don't think it's compulsory as long as the shotgun is 'secure'. I may be wrong I already had one to keep my £1000 air rifle in.

The local FO's visit is to physically check your security, and that the guns you have are the same as the ones on your certificate.
