I bought a laser for no other reason than lasers are cool. :D

My dog goes mad for them, chases them for hours.

Got some new glass. :) Finally picked up the Canon 135mm F/2 L prime lens I've been lusting after for quite a while. Haven't had chance to use it in anger yet but from the testing I've done it seems razor sharp wide open and the autofocus appears swift and accurate even on my 5DII body.
Please excuse the crude experimental photography!

What are them lights? Did you do them artificially?

The only light used was a Samsung tablet screen, 4 long(ish) exposure image composite.
I did the background stripes by drawing them on the tablet and doing a left to right pass across the frame by hand.
I will definitely try to do something more with this technique, as a first attempt its gone well. If I had got the stripes straight and more light on the front of the subject it would have been a better image. :)

i do like getting a good clocker for hwbot
i think this only applies to current es, probably because of nda and you are not allowed to get submission points on hwbot with current gen ES. i did check with some people on hwbot the other day and that is what they said. the guy who i bought these from said he bought a few from someone who worked for dell.

also bought 25 E5200's, this is the first time i've bought more than 2 of the same cpu. :D

Seems to be a bit of a grey area - from what I've read the ES are internal compatibility / test samples, often beta ahead of the general release. They "issue" them out to parters are reviewers but they are still, technically, Intel's property.

Therefore people selling them could be accused of selling stolen goods and there was a case a few years ago of engineers from an OEM partner being arrested for selling on the ES through eBay

Found this (admittedly quite old now) after a quick Google :

I have bought a ton of collector's stuff the past few months and I have finally got my hands on a Skyrim Collector's Edition. I didn't have the money to buy one at the time of release for PC and I just recently found this one on the auction site for a reasonable price.

Out of interest is that looking to increase the value or just to put on shelf? Never understood games collecting really despite playing lots of games

It's a bit of both really, the collector's edition market is really hit and miss. At the moment I have stuck it on a shelf because it looks awesome. Some of the earlier collector's editions (before there was such a big market) such as the original World of Warcraft and Elder Scrolls Morrowind can sell for hundreds of pounds easily. Whereas some recent ones can be had for less half the price that the game was when it first came (e.g. LOTR WITN/Defiance/Aliens V Predator).

I have a lot of collector's items I own simply because I like collecting them. Some of them will increase in value over time whereas others wont. I really love steelbooks and currently own 50+ of them. I was thinking of showcasing my collection on here somewhere but I don't think people would be too interested.

I think it would be cool for sure! With lots of photos.

I've given up on physical gaming and try to keep my stuff digital or sell old games, doesn't mean I don't like the shiny old cases tho!

I do have a thread over on collectorsedition.org however I last updated it November last year and I have bought a lot of stuff since then.

I should really update it tomorrow.

You're missing the obligatory halo 3 legendary edition (the pinnacle of special editions), recently sold mine and other halos with it for 100quid

:)

I actually only got this 3 days ago I think. I check the local game shops in my town and the next one every couple of days for any new CE's or steelbooks and I got chatting to one of the people in CEX and they said someone came in the day before and traded it in (it wasn't yet on display). I couldn't miss the opportunity of getting it right there and then complete in box and in good condition. It cost me a chunk of change but I do not regret it.
