Looks like your laptop costs just as much, has half the RAM and specing on their site is likely not to have the PCIE SSD? Also subjectively (but I am right here) doesn't look as good.

Typing this on a 13" Retina MacBook Pro and the PCIe SSD is a beast. I like the look of that Lenovo but can't get on with Windows as my daily driver. Often the argument with anti-Apple people* is cost. Well similar built quality and specification Windows laptops cost roughly the same.

* Don't get me started on the whole anti-Apple thing. Look, they're either for you or not, but to go out your way to project so much hate makes no sense. Just use want you like, leave other to their choices. /rant over.

i don't like the look of the macbooks, the os or their touchpads.

Looks are subjective but man nobody, and I mean nobody, makes a trackpad as good as Apple. Funny because they make dire, awful, terrible, unusable mice!

Hmmm I keep meaning to pick up a T420 before they get too old. They were fantastic work machines.

We got a bunch from a reseller that refurbs and sells on machines, they were i5 2400 cpus, 4gb ram, 120gb ssd and a new battery and 12 month warranty for £250 each (exvat) should get 3 years life out of them hopefully. Got students using them, so bog standard laptops get completely trashed, but these are built like tanks :D

There was an option for 8gb ram + 2 year warranty for £50 more. £300 (£360inc vat) for all that is a bargain for a workhorse machine.

I have to disagree! Got a macbook pro here with me at work and i don't like it one bit. Although I'm not saying my lenovo is perfect either, i've not liked any touchpad since they all went down the route of the buttons being integrated into the touchpad itself. These refurb T420s i can turn off the tap function and just use the touchpad as nothing more than movement and use the separate buttons to click. I MUCH prefer that.....but maybe i'm just really fussy. :D

!

I'm openly anti-apple, but most of my hate stems from iPads and their useless implementations into education. Management see them as a holy grail, many schools have blown ridiculous amounts of money on them, then expect them to print, connect to file shares etc seamlessly which just can't be done without spending loads more money that they didn't plan for. Then something goes wrong and apple aren't interested in helping...i've had a long standing battle with them that i won't go into.

I'll agree that they have their uses, in my opinion just like linux they fit a specific purpose for specific use cases, but too many people buy them for the name rather than the function.....and there's nothing that angers me more than seeing that exact thing happen with the tax payers money in schools and government branches.

The last generation of lenovo touchpads were AWFUL, I'm so glad they're going back to the older style. It's the generation ending in 40 such as the 540, 440 etc. that are the worst touchpads ever created. Infact i reckon someone at lenovo thought it up after having part of their brain removed.

Got some refurbished T420s at work the other day....proper buttons! ah how I miss those. Flat touchpad that doesn't click, two full buttons underneath and two full buttons above to use with the nubben. Lovely to use.

Loved my T420, been using a W530 for the last 9 months or so as needed some more grunt and had a note come round asking if we wanted to have a W540 replacement. Had a quick google and saw all the comments and issues people were having over the track pads so said no thanks I'll pass and stick with what I've got ;)

Apart from it being a little bulky/weighty, and that damn power brick being so large, the W530 has been a great machine with fantastic keyboard and pointing devices whilst having the power needed to run everything.

Still got the T420 sat in my study feeling sorry for itself, may resurrect it as a backup machine although think it hits it's refresh cycle in 6 months so can swap it for something new and shiny ;)

The RAM, HDD, GPU and CPU can all be upgraded on most of the T and W machines I think? They are very modular.

A lot of it can but think there are some limits, not sure the T420 supports 32gig though and easier where I work to just get the better machine than to start trying to get upgrades for one :)

The W is a better machine, just sometimes wish it were a little smaller/lighter to lug around :)

I had a t430 which I managed to actually like (work one, was previously a 410 which were sack), was a i7-3520M with 16gb ram and 240gb SSD. The thing was great. Then I left it in Vegas at a table and work wouldnt replace it as I already had the mac as well. Swines :p

Did you put it on red? :p

Mate, you got the wrong one. Z3+ has the notorious overheating snapdragon 810.

Insurance replacement for the z2 I waterdamaged (first waterproof phone I have ever owned and first one waterdamaged :()

They rang me up on Friday and said Z2 not available and was it alright if they sent me a newer model, the Z3. I said fine. Nowehere did they mention it was a Z3+ :(

Not strictly bought, but the checkout woman at Morrisons handed this over because I'd spent over £40 on shopping.

Haven't opened it yet, the cards are still sealed.

How do you find the neck?

On Friday a punter bought me a Kramer to use at my gig and oh my word, best neck I've ever played on, it played itself.
The only problem was I couldn't tune it because it was a locking trem and it was right at the end of the fine tuners so I had to swap back after 5 songs.
