Imperator: Rome (Paradox's Next Grand Strategy Title)

Now THAT's value for money!

Exactly, so if Rome is good and I play it a lot, I'll get the DLC as it comes along :)

From what I've seen so far it looks good, probably will need some balance changes and fixes early on, but I am confident enough with it that I have pre-ordered it.

Looks most like EU4, with a bit of CK2 thrown in, and EU4 is the one I've played the most.

Very tempting! What's the story with Paradox DLC? Not really needed to have a good experience, or necessary to fill out the game? Worth it? Not so much??

I couldn't play vanilla EUIV, but some DLC you can do without, what I tend to do is wait for a sale and then snap up DLC I haven't got. I've got 2.7K hours in EUIV and I've probably spent over £100 on the game, to me that's nothing when you compare it to a AAA title you might get 40 hours out of for £50. I get my money's worth out of Paradox titles no doubt.

They're pretty good for DLC, Europa Universalis IV and Crusader Kings 2 has a lot of it because they've been around for a long time... but that just shows that they keep supporting their games for years after they've been released.
You don't need to get the DLC to enjoy their games but the larger DLC packs do often add some really nice gameplay elements so tend to be worthwhile investments if you're finding yourself spending lots of your time in their games.

Today is the day - who is getting this? I'm tempted, as I love PDX titles generally, but something is holding me back with this....
Got it ore-ordered, so will hopefully be able to get stuck in and start playing tonight.

Oh I know it's the same, just now I'm committed I'm impatient :D

Hey at least you only realised you wanted it a few hours ago, been waiting days/weeks!

I still cannot decide who to play as first. I think Rome makes most sense, and it's the tutorial as well.

Yes Rome first for me, I know it will be comparatively easy, but I want to learn the mechanics before I rush about with someone else.
