IMPORTANT: Members Market access

Imo your "reputation" and general interaction across the forum is part of the access requirements. If you aren't active then how can people see that you will be around to handle any transactions/problems. Equally if you aren't "invested" in the forum then losing access isn't really a deterrent for bad MM behaviour

Equally, there are multiple posters with 5 figure post counts who I'd not trust to tie their own shoelaces. Being invested doesn't mean just posting to me; in fact I think you are overlooking a lot of invested people who don't feel the need to be argumentative or provide an opinion on every little thing. I've been around for 20 years (ish) and consider myself invested even if the post count says otherwise.

I guess that comes down to interpretation of the term 'active'.
Just because a user doesn't post often doesn't necessarily mean that they don't regularly access the forum and browse..
this sums up me, im in the fresh random image and lego threads on a daily basis, but avoid a few other areas which aren't relevant

True but you can judge that for yourself from the quality of their posts

Difficult to pass judgement on people who don't interact on a regular basis though

Indeed, I wonder if any metrics have been done to determine exactly how many people this will affect.

Thus how many sales would not have been posted/gone through or maybe not even have sold in the first place.
Either way, it will be a shame to loose loose access.

Of course, I agree with your first point, and I'm heartened you agree. But could you not pass judgement on the quality of my few posts (hahaha how presumptuous am I) rather than their lack of frequency. Generally most of what I have posted over the years should have some purpose and actually been useful to other members (not all obviously!).

I don't think OCUK cares about either of those things, nor do they get commission from sales in there so whether or not anything sells is of zero consequence to them.

Yes of course, we know exactly how many members will be affected by this.

This is the seventh and final stage of a process we've been going through in the background for well over a year which has involved removing access from members who were grandfathered in but haven't been online for a certain period of time. It's not just something we've done on the spur of the moment to annoy people.

that would be difficult to measure and I think there is little benefit to OCUK for this, so doubt they are that bothered.

Loosing the MM is a shame, just bought a graphics card from there, but there is still full access to everything else, which has been fantastic helping me decide the components for my new system.

One day tobywon, you'll be a true MM jedi.

It is annoying though. I've been a member for many years and am sporadically active on various discussion boards. I've used the MM quite a bit over the years both buying and selling. But life is busy and I don't have as much time as I used to for PCs and forum chat, so my post count is low.
It will take me quite some time to get to 1000 posts. Shame as I'm planning to build a new PC soonish and MM access would be helpful!
