IMPORTANT news about watching F1 on sky this season

Had sky phone me up yesterday about a 'win back campaign' they are starting.

They offered me the sky entertainment plus package and all sports channels for £11.86 a month for 9 months.

I believe they are offering this to anyone who has cancelled in the past 12 months and still has their sky equipment. Luckily i still had my sky hd box.

I must say though this did not include the hd channels for sports or f1. If you wanted hd they would do the the hd pack at half price (£5) for 6 months.

The great thing about this was it wasnt a 12 month contract as you were just re activating your account.

I just had to update my box (after another quick phone call to sky) and i was watching the Liverpool Tottenham match on sky sports 1 hd!

I still begrudge paying just for f1 but as soon as the 9 months offer is up i'm free to cancel.

I just binned off as much of my sky package as I could. Due to being "in contract" still on my TV package after I moved back in October and asked for a new Sky+ box. Im down to just HD and the Entertainment package. Got rid of Sports, Movies and Ent Extra. I now no longer have F1 :(

Oh well, I now have Fibre and I'm paying less per month now. RTL live stream it is.

Do you have the F1 channel now? have you kept the HD subscription? if you're keeping the HD subs and you never remove them you'll keep access to the F1 channel.

I don't want to get in to any trouble by just out-right asking etc. But we no longer get Sky so I was wondering if people are allowed to share where they can stream the F1 online? or is this against the forum rules?

It is against the forum rules to discuss illegal streaming.

Do you have a friend or family that has Sky who could let you use one of their SKyGo account devices?

I thought that was the case but would rather ask than miss out.

I was using my mothers Sky to stream it on my xbox but she no longer has Sky so thats a no go. Ta though :) Will check with some of my mates.

Yes, I kept the HD package, so going by that I should be ok.

Anyway, there is 31 days (yesterday) till Movies and Sports are gone from the account, so I shall find out then.

Can someone clarify what this means for Virgin customers? I'm not particularly fussed about SD or HD, but it won't affect me watching the races will it?

I have it on my package now in SD.

It's exactly the same, just not in crisp lovely 1080i-o-vision with thunderous 5.1 sound.

If "Kimi" is raging about it he really needs to seek professional help, then phone Sky and arrange installation of a satellite dish.

Our current sky box (non HD) is not connected to the phone line and we've had no issues for about the last year it has been like this. If we were to upgrade to a Sky HD package would we need to plug it in to set it up?

Doubt it, mine has never been connected to the phone line.

The only time you really need a phone line connected to your sky box is if you have multi room. This is to stop someone taking out multi room for £10 a month and then moving that sky box to a different address. They apparently do random checks to make sure all boxes are at the same address.

Yeah, we have multiroom. The sky+ is in the bedroom, normal sky in the living room. The sky box in the living room has always had a phone connection. The wiring is in place for a phone connection in the bedroom but it has been broken for a while now. Does this mean there's gonna be an issue when we get the new box for the bedroom as there's no working phone line in there?
