The entry for mensa I think is 130 IQ which is good but not brilliant.
Its not really worth stating especially over real experience, plenty of smart people are not especially capable or useful

Some companies including the services will test applicants for various mental skills as well as the obvious physical.
If you want a test go see them and ask them which part of the RAF or whichever service they think you are best suited to and why, might be a lot more informative then Mensa who are making a profit off setting quite a low bar

I haven't joined and I don't intend to. The invitation is enough to stick in the NRA at the back along with the thankyou letter from an old boss for not taking a single sick day in 6 months (6 months! what a joke, that's how bad supermarkets are for sickness...), but that's if the pages and pages of certificates of key skills level 3 in about 10 different modules that I got with my ND in IT don't get the job first

As for a my lack of rebuttals, well in such a target rich environment it would take up all of my free time without really adding anything to the thread, so why bother?

This also applies to my older brother, since he will argue the toss over anything, especially if he's been wronged somehow, and I've discovered the quickest way of getting him to leave is also conveniently the method that requires the least effort: ignoring him. He'll then get irate that he's ignored, use some expletives, and leave me in peace.

why mention any of that? How does that validate anything?

If it were such a target-rich environment and given your alleged superior mental acquity, it really should not take up very much time at all to rebuke some of the criticism here.

Just a single valid rebuttal would go someway to restore a little respect, or at least validate your claim, which is seemily becoming more spurious by the post.

Either that or he is correct, or you do not have the skill to rebuke him in a fashion that would encourage him to not return.

TBH I kind of feel sorry for him. The Narcissistic Personality Disorder is commonly demonstrated as a defence mechanism triggered by demoralisation. This has obviously stemmed from being bullied, more over because the bullying is by a close family member. It's pretty harsh as he has essentially deluded himself into thinking he is better than everyone else as a way to cope. I think deep down he just wants acceptance.

I am not referring to their proven ability, or their 'common sense' or even their 'knowledge' , simply their raw potential for intelligence.

I agree there are many factors which make up someone's intellect or more accurately, their knowledge, education notwithstanding, but as a raw indication of human potential solely related to their mental capacity a valid invigilated IQ test administered on a recognised scale is a valid measurement.

I don't believe that knowledge or education are themselves components of 'intelligence'.

You seem to be implying that 'intelligence' and 'raw potential' are limited to the sort of analytical skills perhaps indicate by IQ tests. IQ tests are simply a test of how good someone is at passing IQ tests - you might infer from them that someone is likely to be good at xzy but that's about it. The result of an IQ test is a single parameter - it really doesn't tell you much about the capacity of an individual given that intelligence is a very broad and complex area.

How can you diagnose someone as having Narcissistic Personality Disorder over the internet. This thread just needs closing now as its become pathetic.
