Inception - July 16th

Probably the film of 2010 imo

I found the over all feel of the film a bit freeky. If you have dreams about floating, slow motion, lifts and falling you'll know what I mean. Very much a must see imo.

Not felt 'attached' to a film like this for a long time.

Excellent film!
Although.... SPOILERS

The ending reminded me of Solaris an awful lot. I think the ending was just a little too happy to be reality. How did he get from the airport to his home? The top may have wobbled but it didn't stop. Or perhaps it was reality, but reality is actually another dream level? That would mean his wife was right. Wow.

And there was only one place where the visuals let themselves down. The character floating in the hotel grabs a rucksack out of the air and it just doesn't behave like it's also in free fall.

Overall, what a brave film. Where else could you have a van drive off a bridge into a river, and it takes, like, 45 minutes to hit the water???

One thing that puzzled me was when Arthur was floating as if in zero gravity...

How did they film this? Did they film it in a specially made zero gravity room or something?

Another cool part was when the architect builds two mirrors and the camera should be in the mirror but it isn't  :p

The people being wrapped up were on a rotating table type setup, which was removed in post and Gordon-Levitt was on a wire harness, I can't remember exactly but it was shot at the same time as the rotating room scenes so it could be that the people being wrapped up weren't moving but the room was.

The bit with the mirrors was shot using a giant mirror and a green screen outdoors in Paris.

Wow incredible...

I can't believe how much it actually looks like zero gravity  :)

Just watched this at Manchester IMAX, brilliant film, loved the way it clicked with your self actualy having dreams and getting your mind thinking about it all, highly recommend watching ..

i thought this was pretty damn good but confusing in parts.... definitely needs another viewing.

SPOILER

the bit which i didnt quite understand was near the end, how did cobb and saito end up together?

i gathered that they must have aged in different layers, hence why saito was old (right?) but how did they end up together? did saito die and end up in limbo, then cobb somehow ended up there?

I believe it was because Saito died and so therefore ended up in Limbo - Cobb stayed there to get him out of Limbo and then they wake up in the plane.

I think that's right :p

You saw Saito die in the snow level.

I thought it was a fantastic film. Definitely would say it's the best I've seen this year.

Just seen this, thought it was absolutely brilliant. Sure takes some beating in terms of depth and complexity. You've got to have a special talent to forge a script like this, and Nolan's nailed it. Definitely rivals the Matrix on many fronts, and the human element is much more believable and real. It doesn't quite have that punch of blinding originality that the Matrix posessed where you know you're seeing something entirely new, but it nonetheless brings much to the table and delivers concepts with more fine detail.

One of the best new films for a few years.

My question is simple .. the van falls off the bridge, the hotel went all gravity-less instantly .. why didn't 'snow-land' suffer any lack of gravity at that time?

How did Nolan think of this story? It was an awesome film but Im more bewildered at how this man could think of something so ingenious.

Do you reckon there will be an Inception 2?
