Inception - July 16th

Yes but what I sam saying is that in the dreams it doesn't ever stop, it's constantly going at the same speed and we are told that it will always spin at that speed if he is dreaming - the one at the end doesn't, it seems to slow, so it can't be a dream, or otherwise the information we are given earlier on in the film is total wack!

We don't know if it stops or not, because it cuts to silent black, and the only reason it's in there is so that people have exactly this sort of absurd discussion. It's ridiculous to throw in 3 seconds of something that makes you question the whole of the rest of the film, unless it's something really damn clever, and I'm talking Keyser Soze clever.

These stupid twist endings have got to stop.

Well, this was new to me, but you can actually buy (and choose your seats) tickets from the food tills. There were only a couple people queuing at them, so we saved ourselves a hefty wait, and managed to get the last couple premier seats.

But, keep it to yourselves ;)

This definitely works in Vue and Odeon cinemas round here. :D

We don't see it stop but we see it slow, which isn't consistent with the information given earlier about what it would do in a dream (keep constant) and therefore if we are to take what the characters say as true and informative, as we are expected to for most of the film with the very descriptive narrative, then the ending must be reality.

Some people have said; the children never seem to grow old though so it must be a dream, but we are told that time moves a lot slower in the dream world, which could explain why they are still quite young.

One of the best things about inception and I suppose any type of film that does this is that it keeps you thinking about it for a few days after - even if the plot isn't as complicated as some people think, you still question for a good few days after. In my opinion that's excellent value for money because the experience of most films is over quite quickly. Especially with the crap Hollywood kicks out most weeks.

Saw it last night. Haven't enjoyed a film so much at the cinema for a long time.

Excellent cast, acting and dialogue, the plot keeps you thinking and involved, engaging story and plenty of action also.

9/10.

Saw this a few nights back. Bloody fantastic. Really a cut above of the summer blockbusters of the last few years (and beyond). Loved it. I would give it a 9/10, but expecting to change it to a 10/10 on further viewings simply because I missed some of the dialogue due to the cinema sound system being so loud (music sometimes drowned out the spoken parts) - the music and sound effects were brutally loud at some points :cool:

Just such a solid film in all departments. Want to see it again; so many levels (pardon the pun) to this film, so many things to think about and ask about. This will be the film that gets me to move to Blu-ray I think.

Here's something I just thought of:

Mal killed herself by jumping off the ledge, because she couldn't shake the idea that she was still in a dream. Now at this stage she'd have her spinning top totem. Why not just refer to that? (Or does it only work in other people's dreams?)
And if she was that convinced, why try to persuade Cobb to jump with her, instead of just shooting him or something? She'd apparently failed to convince him up to that point.
And I read recently the point that why was she on the ledge of the building across the street and how did she get there?
Idle questions!

The only information given in the film is that it never falls. It briefly shows it spinning perfectly as you say but in the ending we see it for a lot longer, it falters a bit just to give you that "ooohh, will it, won't it" feeling and then cuts so you never know.

For all we know, in dreams, it could keep spinning, falter a bit, then spin perfectly again forever, it's never explicitly said that it would keep spinning perfectly.

In regards to the children thing, as I've said before, we have no idea how long the passage of time was since he last saw them. Besides, you never see their faces until the end of the movie, how do you know they haven't aged? Just stupid people trying to pick at little things.

What a fantasic film. One of those films that leaves me with the slightly out of breath, squinty eyes, where the hell am I? feeling when I walk out of the cinema. Except i was in my living room. Very rare to get memorized like that.

Epic troll.

i believe the spinning top like others would stop and end and it is indeed reality as he also sees his childrens faces which he said he couldnt in dreams.

a whole sequel resting on a spinning top thingy :p

not quite kieser soze more total recall . quaid never went to mars :)

Saw this recently.

Can't say I was overwhelmed. Yeah, it was a good film and I liked the concept of it.

I think I had heard too much about it before watching it, also all those stupid memes and the south park episode just made me laugh at some parts!

With films like these, much like I done with The Matrix many years ago is know nothing about the film what so ever before watching.

I just watched it this evening. Pretty good and I definately would have liked to see it at the cinema. I really enjoyed it but i'm not totally sure I'd actually watch it again, once the initial confusion as to where the plot goes it's not necessarily that good IMO. Still give it an 8/10, just not sure it's one of those films that is as good the second time round (like the Ocean series).

The first 15 minutes was a bit confusing but after that it was pretty straightforward, however it was rather cliched, especially the ending (I'd worked out what that was going to be about a quarter of the way through, although I didn't know how it would be portrayed). The other thing that got me were that it took a lot of influence to The Matrix and Shutter Island (not just Leo), I was half expecting the end to be him waking up on the island again...

EDIT: After having read the second half of this thread I'd err even more on the side of a remake of The Matrix but with an Oceans 11 influence. Not as original as I assumed before watching it (purposely didn't read anything about it before seeing it).

Too many plot holes if you believe that, even the original story doesnt shy away from the initial premise that he HAD been to mars.
They only diverge after Recall discover this.
