Kinda what you do in order to avoid getting flashed, really.
Now, those who brake whenever the road even slightly deviates from dead-straight... those are annoying... along with the ones who come up behind a *slightly* slower vehicle and keep touching the brake every 10-15 seconds!
Again, have done this myself, more on countryside twisties where there are frequently nasty hazards just round the bend, or on tight corners where I know people run wide (have had to mount the kerb more than once), but especially at night.
Same for in town, given how many iPhone Ninjas think it's hilarious to step out in front of your vehicle, dressed all in black with hood up and earphones in, from behind a parked car or something...
Again, could be many reasons - Perhaps they didn't spot the speed change, or are limping home on a space saver wheel .
Calm down.... relax... put some Classic FM on...
Or if you prefer, just blaze off at high speed, bibbing your horn as you blast past, before slipping off the road, smacking into a tree and firing yourself through the windscreen just like some bloke did a couple of weeks ago outside our house.

Dare I say it's time for driving license refreshers every 'x' years. Would certainly show people how complacent they are while driving

Basher;30482004 said:People who indicate left after an overtake frustrate me. It's pretty obvious you're going to get back into the left lane rather that hit that oncoming car, your indication is not required.
mrk;30482038 said:You're supposed to indicate, why do you get miffed by people who are doing what they should be doing in accordance with the highway code?
Rule 103
Signals warn and inform other road users, including pedestrians (see ‘Signals to other road users), of your intended actions. You should always
give clear signals in plenty of time, having checked it is not misleading to signal at that time
use them to advise other road users before changing course or direction, stopping or moving off
mrk;30482101 said:It's pretty clear, you should always give a clear signal when you are changing course or direction.
Signalling allows other road users to be aware of a vehicle changing direction, no matter how obvious it might be to you, it might not be to someone else.
Mirror
Signal
Manoeuvre
I take it this wasn't taught to you during driving lessons then?![]()
Basher;30482133 said:As I said, I do signal before I carry out the manoeuvre (the overtake). It was absolutely taught during my driving lesson.
Take a read of the overtaking section of the highway code, there is no mention of needing to signal after you complete the overtake. You should signal when changing course, (of course), but after initially pulling out for the overtake I'm not really changing course - it's one smooth move past the car in front.

Following these utter penii at 40mph in the dark is not at all fun. Therefore I go with Housey's method (well, as close as I can to it)
Entai;30482685 said:You are indeed hanging course for the initial movement out from behind the car you wish to overtake.
However you are then changing course again, to move back in front of said car.
An overtake is two separate movements, and you follow the mirror, signal, maneuver for each separate movement.
Movement one, from following car you wish to overtake, mirror, signal right, maneuver out from behind the car and accelerate to overtake.
Movement two, once past, mirror to check you are clear and there is room, signal left, then maneuver back into original lane you started from.
