Indian Grand Prix 2011, Buddh International Circuit - Race 17/19

Managed to catch the race live, before the train. Reasonably interesting.
Can't believe massa got penalty. Stupid stewards, have they ever heard of racing inciedent and not every collision should be punished, in fact it should be a rarity.

Great drive by Seb as always and Button delivering again which makes me :D.

wasnt herbert the driver steward?
F1 is a shadow of what it used to be
2000-2004 was more competitive than this :P

people are constantly waffling on about the most competitive grid in history of the sport though :D

Massa had checked his mirrors (you can see his head move) so he should have known Lewis was there and he shouldn't have turned in on him.

I think Massa checking the mirrors is something of a red herring, in fact I'd suggest it goes some way to explaining how the accident happened.

On the approach to the corner Massa looks in his left mirror, at which point Lewis is behind him and slightly to the right. Massa then looks ahead, before looking to his left mirror again, whilst Massa was looking ahead Lewis has moved to the left and drawn partially alongside Massa, probably far enough that he's well into the blind spot by the time Massa checks his mirror the second time

Massa could very easily have had no idea Lewis was on the inside of him when he turned in.

couldn't help myself

could be seen in bad taste, but it's motorsport, and it happens....and I said afterwards it's a bit sick so people understand I was just jesting. Ham and Massa have come together 6 times this season with no serious injury...

So you think its okay for Massa to turn in and damage Hamiltons wing without taking a hit himself? If both didn't take damage then it would have been unfair.

I don't think damage should be looked at.
Was it a dangrouse move yes or no, that's all which should be considered.

I would say no it wasn't. It was a racing incident and Hammy could well of been in the blind spot. Obviously they have more telemetry than we do. But from the videos its a racing inciedent IMO.

Was just thinking, they have rear wing cameras. Anything in the rules that would ban a HUD system. It would be great for defending. I assume must be some rule against it.

I always think with the stewarding there should be more explaination on their behalf of why they made the decisions they made, to the general public they are a faceless group of people besides the ex driver they have on the team.

When a penalty is dished out you get no reasoning behind it or how they came to their decision just the punishment.

Guess there is a deliberate element to them being anonymous in case a football ref culture comes in and they get threats from the more extreme fans.

I've fitted and calibrated proper hud systems and to be able to do it properly and safely would be more of a weight penalty than Kers. Plus there's nothing to project it onto unless they go for the canopy they have tested.

I'd love to know whats eating Lewis up. Is he just so used to winning and having it all his way that this has completely unsettled him? Brundle mentioned a confidential chat with father and Martin said he had become very worried about Lewis and his frame of mind.

Clearly the season end cannot come quick enough for Lewis.
