Indian Grand Prix 2011, Buddh International Circuit - Race 17/19

I'm not sure the dust made that much difference, it's not like we saw drivers stuck behind slower drivers for laps on end, it was just that they fell rapidly into the "right" position for their track speed and didn't really change from there. Everyone of interest was running similar strategies and after Massa hit Lewis there wasn't much going on to generate interest.

I don't think that's really down to the track.
Dust makes a massive amount of difference in a braking zone...

yes, I think drivers that get more than 2 race wins ahead in the championship should be given weight penalties.
Lets have a reverse grid upto a particular position after qualification dependent on a numbered card chosen at random ;)

I'd love to know whats eating Lewis up. .

He just split up with his girlfriend? One that he has been going out with for years?

That can affect some people you know...:p

He could have been having a tough time in his relationship leading up to the break- up which may explain his dramatic dip in form.

And not a single other F1 driver has ever spilt up with a long-term girlfriend? Doesnt say much about his mental ability if that affects his day job, hasnt seemed to affect her performances of late...

Do we need to get him a yellow bus to go with his special needs?

Just plonk them all the same car i say and leave it to driver skill. Would be nice to do for a couple of races just to see how some of the "rookies" fair.

To be fair, they do this in feeder series. The boys do well in that and progress [if they are lucky ] to F1. You then want them to do it again?

I would love for them to do something "outrageous" for a season. Scrapping qualifying and making your starting place depending on your championship position for example, leader at back working forwards.

Thats just one crazy example, but they really need to make the sport more interesting. Not only are the races dire, but qualifying is a non issue anymore. Some of the teams dont even set times, and they always seem to hold back to save tyre sets.

Throwing them all in the same car would generate good racing - but when a Ferrari isn't really a Ferrari, it would kinda suck.

Go watch GP2 or something :/

I thought the race was OK, it's always nice to see JB on form...

The LH/Massa was a racing incident in my book, although IMO, the golden rule should be, if you get 50%-75% overlap, you have to leave them room, the art of driving is to defend such that people can't get that significant overlap... you see much better defending and etiquette further down the field, probably because they are much more vunerable to losing their seat if they don't finish races by crashing out..

There is an element of borefest to some of the weekend, I can't help feeling that tyres are largely killing things, they are just so temperamental, you had JB complaining of no grip and visibly struggling in qually, with LH seemingly loving the car in qually, then total role reversal for the race, this has to be down to the tyres.. either that or JB had inadvertantly found an awesome race setup that didn't work in qually..

Was a little bit disappointed with the race after all of the build up.

The track does look like it has some potential so will be interesting to see a few more races there.

Agree it seemed a bit harsh for Massa to get a penalty, guess if they felt it was his fault and Hamilton ended up needing a new front wing they had to.

Thats the way I see it. The penalty was because Hamilton required a new front wing, not because the move itself warranted one.

Still think it was totally Massa's fault though. He was well aware of Hamliltons position and turned in anyway. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he thought to himself that if they came together, Hamilton would likely get a penalty because of his reputation this year.

I didn't watch anything after the race and haven't read much news, has Massa been crying like a spoilt brat again?

Surprised nobody's mentioned the first lap crashes.

Was very surprised that Barrichello didn't take a penalty. Ran into the back of his team mate into the first corner and effectively put 3 drivers out of the race* whilst continuing himself

*Assuming Maldonado's Gearbox failure was caused by the impact, plus Kobayashi and Glock retired with damage sustained in the same incident

They generally employ an 'anything goes' policy on the first lap.

Yeah great input there.

I'm not on my own island in the belief that F1 is becoming unattractive.

The BBC say they have more and more viewers watching? F1 has always been about the technical and team side more than hundreds of overtakes per lap, which we have seen far more of this year and last year. Yet people still complain?
