Indian Grand Prix 2011, Buddh International Circuit - Race 17/19

Upon closer thinking, maybe someone tampered with their control unit so that it only works on Marks car? :p

It was weird at the start of the year when Mark had all those reliability problems, especially with the KERS and Seb has had nothing all year. Kind of like there trying to slow him down :S haha

I didn't think the teams could change anything on the cars remotely? They can only monitor and instruct the driver to press certain buttons.

With regards to the tyres and lasting all weekend...

We are a small minority on here - the majority of F1 viewers don't go in for the whole weekend. They switch on the TV on a Sunday, want to watch a bit of qualifying highlights, watch a race and then go and have a BBQ. They really do not want nor need to know about tyre preservation over the weekend because it doesn't mean anything to them.

Hence why there is the start of increased support for a qualifying set.

In years gone by, do you think Senna or Mansell would've asked for permission or apologised for taking the fastest lap on the last lap of the race?

It's amazing that some 20 years later, we have reached a point where a double World Champ is having to apologise for getting the fastest lap.

Its good to see though, that Vettel isn't a complete robot and still likes to massage his ego (just like all those years ago, when a driver would want to be fastest, just so that he could let the other drivers know who's boss).

Well thats the thing, it IS 20 years later - things have changed.

That isn't the main point though, the crazy thing here is HOW he achieved the fastest lap.

If they can turn the engine modes etc down from the pit wall, why are they always radioing drivers saying to change engine mode.

I don't think they have that power from the pit wall..

They don't. They may well have told him to turn the wick down down with yellow to 6 and green to low or something but He isn't stupid and will know how to turn them back.

The pitwall can control nothing in the car, they can only monitor telemetry and get the driver to make changes.

Is that due to rules or because they choose not to/can't?

DC weighs in on the Hamilton-Massa clash.

"If Lewis had got that far up alongside Felipe into a tight hairpin, where the braking zone is maybe 100 metres and lasts for a few seconds, then I think Massa would have been right to give way. But heading into a fourth gear left-hander at maybe 150-160km/h? Where the braking zone lasts for one second? I don't think Massa can be held responsible," said the Scot

You mean exactly like in Monaco when Massa didn't give way and LH was penalised?

IIRC, Hamilton wasn't penalised for the hairpin clash in Monaco. He was penalised for putting Massa wide in the tunnel, onto the marbles and into a crash.

Change the record please..it's getting boring now ;)

You've always got the option of putting me on your ignore list, deuse.
