I also bought it way back when it first came out. Pretty sure there's a system to transfer the old copy over to steam/desura. Give them an email with your details and I'm sure they will help you.
 
What we need is a PvP server setup that runs 24/7, fed up of joining the ones people host now as it seems they are all home hosted and they shut the servers down when not playing etc. I found one company that hosts the game but for some reason that company has a bug and the server does not show in the list. You can direct connect though.
 
Yeah I think it is really good, loving the snow :). Not tried with control pad yet though, did you see that build 31 is meant to be so hard you will die really quick if you make one mistake. It runs well but it still has some random slow downs I find, nothing major just a split second while it seems to load something maybe. We need a ocuk server..............

dam hard, got any tips? I just tried a MP server not played in ages and I was completely screwed spawned in a town 1000's of zeds no safe houses?
 
Nah no safe houses at all, unless the server has some kind of mod as far as I know. Trouble with MP servers is most have no loot respawns so new players find nothing. You should spawn in a house, find a knife even if it is a butter knife it will kill a few zeds. Just about to start building my base, have a ton of planks now.
 
They just ramped it up a bit more, harder to survive now. Few more tweaks and they could actually make this really hard which is a good thing. Excuse the quality steam screenshot this one:

Most impressed with how it looks there! Textures and models have come a hell of a long way since I last played.

Sorry I missed your question before, I did try a few times online but as you say the servers were completely looted clean of everything on the ones I tried so I gave up

As said use build 30, pad works really well tbh.

Seems to be fixed on build 30, the options to set loot as rare seems to work. Setting loot to respawn seems to work. Although most servers set it to one week which can be a bit of a nightmare. We need a ocuk server really, if anyone has a dedi box this does not need much power to run it. I play on the evil dead server quite a bit now though.
 
Well had a quick game last night (build 28 I think, before I realised you had to opt-in to the beta builds). Lasted about 1 day before I got killed in my bathroom! Enjoying it so far though.
 
Played on the Evil Dead server tonight Witcher, ended up joining up with a couple random guys I came across was genuinely awesome fun! Something went wrong though either my connection dropped or there was some bad lag now I can't log back in the same character it keeps saying "User already connected" or something :(
 
Evil Dead server is pretty bad ass :) I had that before I think it happens when the server needs a restart. I also found if you save a server you sometimes need to delete it, then save it again and join from the favs.
 
First time I played this last night since ancient beta back when it was initially released in the first week.

It's an amazing game now, the improvements are massively impressive and the amount you can do is staggering.

Started a game on beginner to ease back in and cleared around 10 buildings around my own killing about 12 or so Zeds. Couple of questions If someone can help; where can I get planks from? I want to practice crafting but can't find them anywhere. Secondly, is the beginner mode a bit simpler to let you practice as there are very few Zeds around and not struggling so far. Thirdly, if beginner mode stays simple, what should I move onto next to enjoy it a bit more?

Great game, so fun and atmospheric.
 
You can get some planks by chopping down doors or get the axe and saw and go crazy on the trees. Chop em, get logs, saw em get planks :)

As for the beginner mode I haven't tried it myself. I always go to the custom sandbox. From what I gather though, the zombie population will increase albeit slower than normal mode.

If you really want it harder then go play with the sandbox settings. So many options to play with in there!
