IndyCar 2012

Got to watch the race this morning before the F1. Yay for Wilson!

Really deserved to stay in F1, but being 6'5" causes real problems with car design.

He had to put up with poor rides in Champcar as well. Still gave Bourdais a run for his money at some tracks though.

Is there anywhere online where I can watch a recording of the Full Race, there are odd bits on youtube but not the whole race
Thanks

Well, this is the same guy that beat Mark Webber to the 2002 F3000 title and was beating his veteran teammate in a spare parts Minardi the next year. It's a shame his height caused problems with F1 car design. Takes some talent to win with a Dale Coyne car especially on an oval :)

Yea it's great to see him do well, hopefully he'll be able to get a few more good results.

Have to say I knew he was tall, but I didn't realise he was quite that tall... Crazy height for stuff like F1.

Afraid I don't know of anywhere, I had it recorded which is how I watched it.

He's usually in the top 10 when his car lasts the distance. Oh, it was the 2001 F3000 I was thinking of, because Webber drove for Minardi the next year.

Eh, the full race will end up on youtube eventually, the others have.

Have some post-race interviews:

The next race is at the Milwaukee Mile this Saturday, so here's a driver preview:

Average speeds are significantly lower than at Texas owing to its near zero banking angle and short length.

Looks like the Qingdao, China race is unlikely to go ahead. Road America is first on the list to replace it.

Edit: Here's the practice footage from Milwaukee -

Post-qualifying interviews:

Dario Franchitti takes his first pole of 2012 with a 43.31 second run. Alongside him is Ryan Hunter-Reay, and Rubens Barrichello will line up third. His team, KV Racing Technology, looked strong in practice and their 3rd, 5th and 6th on the grid confirmed their pace in qualifying.

Justin Wilson and Will Power originally qualified on the front two rows but were penalised for engine changes. Katherine Legge puts in her best qualifying of the season for 15th, outpacing fellow Briton James Jakes. Title contender Scott Dixon and our favourite kamikaze Takuma Sato were also penalised for engine changes, lining up 21st and 24th.

Full grid for the Milwaukee Mile:

1. Dario Franchitti
2. Ryan Hunter-Reay
3. Rubens Barrichello
4. Helio Castroneves
5. EJ Viso
6. Tony Kanaan
7. Simon Pagenaud
8. James Hinchcliffe
9. Marco Andretti
10. JR Hildebrand
11. Graham Rahal
12. Justin Wilson
13. Alex Tagliani
14. Will Power
15. Katherine Legge
16. James Jakes
17. Josef Newgarden
18. Charlie Kimball
19. Ryan Briscoe
20. Oriol Servia
21. Scott Dixon
22. Ed Carpenter
23. Simona de Silvestro
24. Takuma Sato
25. Mike Conway

Good stuff sr4470 :)

Shame about the engine changes for some of the drivers but looks like it could be a fairly interesting grid.
Would love to see Rubens get a good result from there.
Glad to see Legge getting in the mix too, hopefully she is getting used to the new engine and can actually race now... Still a shame they are having to alternate the drivers.

Just checked it's on Sky Sports 3 at 6pm this evening.

Heh thanks, but it's a pretty quiet thread isn't it? Pretty much everyone here prefers F1.

I'd bet on his friend Kanaan personally, because of his vast experience on ovals and CART\Indycar in general. I think it's more realistic to expect a top 5 finish for Barrichello here.

I think spending all that time in DTM didn't help, though she was mid-pack in Champ Car - definitely no match for Wilson and Bourdais.

Yea it is a bit of a shame really, especially as one doesn't have to mean you do without the other, it's very rare they clash and weeks like this when there's no F1 is fantastic :)

Think Indycar would benefit from a little more advertising, even putting it on the Sky Sports F1 channel would help I reckon.
