Arma 2 still looks gorgeous :]]]

No, it really doesn't. Looks horrible.

The view distance and lighting are superb, the rest stinks to high heaven. The ArmA II engine is very photo realistic, though. Just very low quality. WarZ has a better look to it as a video game, whereas ArmA II has a better look to it as a technically flawed piece of art IMO.

Look youre talking about very different games. ARMA is perfect (graphically) for what it is needed for, massive vistas and reality. The War Inc. engine is good for smaller instanced maps and more of a L4D feel to the game with crisper textures. I dont think graphics are going to be that much of an issue when seeing whether War Z is any cop.

The trouble with the ARMA 2 engine and all those going back to OFP1 is, in my opinion the way they handle close quarter combat and more importantly the very poor indoor environments. The OFP/ARMA engine suffers with terrible clipping/movement and navigation within buildings, falling through floors/out of windows etc, traversing stairs in some buildings is a pain in the arse!

This made me stop playing, the amount of times I was trying to go prone through a door only to be forced to stand up and take a round to the face when somebody on another building was after me... that accounted for 90% of my deaths, that and being sling shotted off mountains through dodgy physics.

True enough. I was going to go for some early access on this but I reckon I'll stick to xcom and wait for the reviews on War-z. I've just got a niggly feeling that this game won't measure up to the hype.

Well it's still calling itself a sandbox zombie survival sim. some of my favourite words right there.

Even if it turns out to be pants it will tide me over until Dayz standalone and maybe even Dayz can steal some ideas from it.

Well War Inc was a bit of a let down so its no surprise expectation is low, and of course its always going to be compared to DayZ at its height, before it went to ****. Might get the 20 pack.

HOWEVER what is server hosting? and even more concerning why are they talking about maps? is this going to be a very limited play area?

This is the only game I've ever had to say that I strongly urge you to wait on buying this game until a billion other schmucks have wasted their cash and complain how bad it is.

But then, there's always a game for someone.

Im pretty sure its going to be awful, but I wouldnt mind spending 20US to confirm that. *shrugs*

Looks good to me, looking forward to trying it out :)

It won't be a day 1 purchase though, will be waiting to see what people say about it.
