*** Infestation: Survivor Stories ***

I've been "invited" to the paid beta. I was hoping for an open, free beta.

This smacks of poor quality.

I'll wait for reviews.

Everyone has mate, you don't have to pay to get in others who don't will get in aswell.

I might have been pretty negative so far about the game, but all they are doing is what other games have done. Have a beta with limited people and give people beta access with ordering the game.

I said earlier today i was going to wait, but a mate bought it for me with money he's owed me a few weeks which i won't really miss.

It does look pretty bad, but i guess i'll see on the 30th.

PS. Open "FREE" beta invites haven't even been sent out yet.

I'm looking forward to this on account of the big open world Colorado map. Getting a little bored of Chernarus.

I dont like how the Items that you pick up in the game have a luminous purple border around them though. Why is it that games do this ? It kills the immersion factor when games tend to hold your hand this way.

From what Ive seen on youtube this game looks a little bit like that HomeFront game in the graphics department.

I'm looking forward to this game and will probably get it on release though my expectations are not too high.

A Zombile infested MMO is a great concept just hope this game does it justice.

I've noticed something on these forums...

WarZ thread created - war (pun intended) over WarZ vs DayZ begins
Torchlight II thread created - war over TL2 vs D3

Pretty sure there was some speak inside the Guild Wars 2 about how WoW is better, not checked the Battlefield threads but no doubt there were COD vs BF ******** going on. Minecraft threads, did they turn into Minecraft vs Terraria? Wouldn't be surprised if yes.

Internet forum discussing what similar products pros and cons are and comparing them, well colour me surprised

Thing I've always hated about most large scale fps games is pace, I love arma adversarial play (although mostly private) but these games are just too easy to aim and shoot with little to no recoil, spread or bullet drop. Makes it feels arcadey and offers low skill rewards and no room to improve because that's all there is.

We'll see....

That's a pretty old preview mate. I will be waiting for it to come out and wait for the real reviews. From the video's I'm still not convinced at all.

I know what your saying. However until a few days ago i'd totally given up on the project. However talking with my clan mates we all agree this game doesn't look like its been thrown together in 2 - 4 months. Prehaps what their saying is true and they have been developing it for some time.

Either way its going to be a zombie filled build up to christmas, with Alpha for this, Dayz standalone and to top it all of The walking dead :D

Ive received the 'closed-alpha/beta-pay-for-invite' email, yeah must say smacks of a lack of confidence in the game. I especially dont like the fact that the 'offer' expires 5 days after the launch of the alpha... why so quickly?

With XCom coming out and planetside meeting my mp needs, Ive decided my cash is better spent there until I can see a review or two.

Yeah but the BF3 beta was based on BF1 and 2 - people loved that, knew they were going to get a certain level of quality, and will pay to play a beta of the sequel. Same with Planetside, only theyre not charging the majority for anything.

War Z is based on the universally panned War Inc. You would have thought they'd be handing out free access if they had any confidence in their game rather than trying to trade in on the much vaunted '1 Million expressions of interest' with a cash beta. Just smacks of a cash in and a desire to reap dollars before the word gets out.

Yep lots did it with MOH to get BF3 beta. More will buy the new one (warfighter isnt it) to get BF4 beta.
Fair enough but the telling difference there is that its an established series/developer though, isn't it?

Why throw money at a developer whos official site is impossible to find, if it even exists?

I think we’re all forgetting the impact dayz had on pretty much all types of gamers. Dayz imo brought a new idea to the table and Warz know this and ofc trying to cash in on it peoples want for it.

Personally I don’t mind pay £19.50 for early alpha access. I’m bored as **** with everything else that’s out and at least it will give me something to do, hell I’d pay that for a trip to the cinema with the misses for 2 hours and more likely still come out disappointed.

I think the average PC gamer can be tight (me included). Looking at the facts I’m probably right.

I have a 2 year old who we pay nearly £800/month in crèche fee’s for so naturally I need to be selective how I spend the little spare cash we have spare. For example I really want to buy hitman and almost bought. But couldn't justify paying £40. Reason is it got me thinking why am I willing to spend that money for a game which wont really last me once I’ve finished the missions, it'l just gather dust. However Warz could potentially last me months/years same as Dayz and I’ve been unsure whether to buy them or not.
