Just been looking at specs/performance of the RX8, hmm 22mpg, could be worse, but :eek: hehe

Going to find one for sale somewhere local next week and blag myself a test drive anyways :)
 
I'd get a TT Supra out of those you listed... Awesome cars that still look gorgeous, have good road presence and perform great! They sound really nice with a decent exhaust, too.
 
Thanks for that guys, yeah, the Supra does still stand out to me, the only thing i wasn't sure, how big/worthwhile are back seats in a Supra, if any? I know its not the kinda thing you generally associate a Supra with, but as my girlfriend and I take her brother and sister to basketball every week, its something i need to consider! I'm guessing being a coupe the boot size is average too?

God, talking about a Supra and asking about back seat legroom & boot space! I should be shot :D
 
Well I’m going to be a bit biased here but out of that lot I would definitely go for the ITR, you could get a mint DC2 98 JDM, or a later UK model for that money and have a bit left over. If you love the feel and handling of your current civic then times that by 10 and you will be somewhere close to the teg, they are also very practical, reliable, 2 rear seats, decent size boot, good fuel economy. Personally I don’t see why anyone would buy a CTR over an ITR. I do quite a lot of motorway driving at the moment and they are nowhere near as bad as people make out, true a 6th gear would have been nice but as it is its just a wee bit loud but nothing turning the stereo up cant fix.

8.5k wouldn’t get you a DC5 and I would guess the same would apply for the S2000 unless they are cat d’s, cant really comment much on the supra as I have never driven or been in one but I do have a bit of a ‘thing’ for the MR2’s. Fantastic looking cars.

All comes down to personal opinion though, best bet is to go out and get as many test drives as you can in all the cars and then choose.

Nothing wrong with a Supra TT in auto! The box is very responsive and are typically 2.5 - 3k cheaper, so you'll get a lot nicer car for your money.

With regards to the back seat issue on the Supra, well, you can get one passenger in the back easily enough if you put the front passenger seat forward loads, not comfortable for either passenger, but its doable. If you are tall you are really going to struggle to get a passenger behind the driver, maybe they could put their legs accross the other passenger in the back!

I'd agree but even thats optimistic! You gotta be no more than 5ft 10 to even sit properly in the front tbh :p rear seats surely only suitable for really small people, prolly just small kids.

You can get a Rev3 MR2 easily for that money. They have 241bhp standard with a 0-60 in 5.3ish seconds. Out of the list it will prob have the hardest leaning curve and need respect when it rains.

Yeah, i can imagine it would, i was actually REALLY happy when my girlfriend got her MGF as its given me some MR experience, not that i'm going to compare a 118hp MGF to a 241hp MR2, but any experience is good experience, only downside then is we both have 2 seaters, but like i could give a fiddly dee sometimes :D I actually HATE seeing pics of your MR2, cause it makes me want one oh so badly! :D
 
The boot size is fairly respectable, its quite deep so you can get a fair amount in it. Few little mods and you can get 300bhp out of it depending on the rollers. ;)
 
Well, have been doing some shopping around, and my gf and I are off to Available Car sometime next week (They're local, have an RX8 in there and are pretty easy with test drives, so figured what the hell)

Have been doing some shopping around using Bell as a ballpark figure (Come March i'll only have 1 years NCB, then i saw on Bell that i "might" have 5 years, as i've been on my gf's policy with Bell for the last 5 years and realised they do do named driver no claims, so i'm going to look into that, but here's what i've gotten for quotes so far from Bell using 1 years NCB as a benchmark, threw in a few other cars of more "varied performance, but with this is what it came out at on 10 months w/ 350 excess.

A little information about MR2 Turbos that might be handy when looking for one.

There are two turbo variants, the GT and the GT-S. The GT is the one you want to go for as it has air conditioning and half leather seats as standard, where as the GT-S has cloth seats and, I *think*, no air conditioning.

You can get T-Bar versions of each variant, which have two panels on the roof that can be taken off and stored behind the seats for those sunny days. I have a tin top, though, because the T-Bars tend to leak sooner or later. I prefer the look of tin tops on cars which aren't black because it ruins the look with a black rectangle on the roof.

I would also only go for a revision 3 onwards because these have all the revised suspension and steering tweeks to make the car more easy to handle and less likely to oversteer. They also look better with the one piece spoiler and rear clusters.

Don't be put off by people that say the MR2 has bad handling and that it will kill you at every opportunity, this isn't the case unless it is a revision 1 car which tends to be easier to oversteer all the time. The back end of my car has stepped out a few times and it has been very easy to rectify. You have to drive smoothly with these cars so be progressive with the accelerator and brakes and try to reduce harsh weight transfer as much as possible. If the back end gets out of line counter steer and keep the throttle open, lifting off will likely result in a spin.

Its crazy how much it costs to insure Scoobs, when I was messing about getting online quotes about 6 months back I was getting quotes of £2100 for them! I only pay £850 for my MR2... even an Aston Martin DB9 was cheaper than a Scoob.

I noticed you got a quote for a Hyundai Coupe, please don't buy one as you will probably be massively disappointed with the performance.
