Intel Arc series unveiled with the Alchemist dGPU to arrive in Q1 2022

A 6650XT isn't the same performance as a 3060ti which is around 10-15% faster so if your getting more performance and double the VRAM + the AV1 encoder for $50 more then it don't look a bad deal to me.

The 3060Ti is 9% faster.

Intels meant to be faster at ray tracing so I'm guessing that would push people towards intel, especially since AMD are crap at RT

also a770 is faster than a 3060ti according to intel so.... seems like an obvious choice

How many people are put off from AMD cards purely because they are dog mess at ray tracing? I'm guessing a lot

Ah here we go, just like Nvidia its a case of.....

"yes but ignore all of that..... its all about RT, therefore better, so its worth more"

This is why we are in this absurd situation with Nvidia, perhaps we deserve it, we are literally asking for it.

What's going to be your next GPU purchase @arknor ? Intel? no.....

And you @Joxeon are you going to put your money where your mouth is? no....

Googling where it is being released gives me nothing, guess it is a US release first and seeing whether it sells. Maybe the rumors of Arcs demise are at least half true, if it does not sell then maybe Intel will just do a google and cancel it.

Just putting it out there: could Intel's Arc GPUs be their sampler for the next round of consoles? We're 2 years into the 7 year cycle. It's going to take Intel at least one more generation - 2 years - to get things fully right, by which time Microsoft and Sony will be refreshing the Xbox X and the PS5 and thinking about the Xbox Y and PS6 so Intel will be able to provide a credible alternative to AMD.

Absolute utter made-up rubbish spread by one guy with a YouTube channel desperate for views...
14:50 in this video they don't seem to think anything is cancelled

WCCFTech are reporting decent Geekbench results:

Assuming the report is true - this is WCCFTech, after all - the A750 just beats the RX 6600 XT and the A770 matches the RTX 3060 and RX 6700 XT. I may have to revise my views on pricing, but the RX 6600XT isn't that much faster than the RX 6600 so we'll just have to see.

Of particular note are the improvements in the drivers. Fine wine, anyone?

I doubt it. There's a lot of software built with AMD hardware in mind & it's unlikely Intel could/would offer a better product worth more than what AMD's already done, plus AMD's been happy to play ball with Sony/MS and not be obnoxious on pricing.

Good points all, but just look at how Apple switched.

Thats just as made up as the other guy you refer to. In reality, only the high ups at Intel will know the plans.
Made up that the CEO was on stage supporting the product and no signs anything is cancelled okay dood.

there's more reasons for intel to keep making GPUs than not and 3 generations of cards were already budgeted for.

but yeas clearly moores law idiot with a history of posting absolute crap for views is 100% correct, you can always trust a clickbaiter

If the price is right MS & Sony would switch as they are both x86 and OpenGL/DX. Intel is the only other option for them if they want to stay x86. MS & Sony could also play Intel and AMD against each other to reduce the price. Getting in a console would be a big win for Intel, even if margins are zero.

Apple? They switched to their own chips, not another 3rd party.

Means very little, it would still require a significant software effort to bring back parity, back-compat etc. Hell it was still required even while building with AMD for the new consoles and had to keep some legacy hw configs (i.e. run identical logic & clocks as ps4/pro) the same just so that they don't break anything while they worked on updating (some of) the titles to properly use the new hardware. As much as the consoles seem PC-like in their hardware the software is anything but.

Why? And good luck selling that to your investors who are already piffed off that the margins keep going down everywhere else as well.

The funny thing is that Intel actually had a shot at doing consoles when the PS4/XB1 were in design phase, but Intel told them to take a hike because the prices were too low, that's why they ended up getting CPU & GPU both from AMD. Jaguar sucked but it was the only option they had for the cost.

Why so keen on getting Intel on to another 0 margin venture? Don't they have enough problems as it is?
