Intel D975XBX

Can honestly say that if I ordered/pre-ordered a £150 mobo and received what either of you guys have, it would be returned immediately. And unless I got a damn good explanation and replacement would probably be the last time they got my custom.

Come on OCuk - any explanation... am gonna be placing my order soon, and don't really want to pass my £600 elsewhere.

I would be disappointed if that's what I got. I was expecting something more along the line of what lowrider posted above.

Who cares about a shiny box, it was obviously rushed through for your benefit? If it wasnt packaged properly then thats another matter

Can anyone run there ram at 1T on these setups?

There are 2 versions - OEM and Retail. If you buy retail you get the whole nine yards. The OEM one is just the motherboard in a carboard box.

tbh I think it does matter, I don't mean to ruffle any feathers but not only are you missing the the nice shiny box :p , but also the Manual, decent ide cables + front usb/firewire drive bay and the extra rear usb back plate, but most importantly your are missing the 3 year warranty that you have with the retail version of the Bad Axe m/b's,

the ones people are getting in the brown box are defo OEM, I've orderd them in their hundreds before, they usaully come in packs of 10 mobo's to a box with 10 backplates/ide cables/layout stickers etc(just the basics), the m/b's them selfs are not usually individually boxed, I'm guessing maybie they did'nt anticipate this which proberbly explains why some people have had some dodgy box with sellotape on it.

thing is...it doesnt give you a choice for oem or retail on the main site nor did it indicate that their was a choice

£139.95 x 1 - Intel Extreme D975bx-304 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-010-IN)

thats all it said when preordering

Looks like ocuk are definately shipping the oem version, if you care to follow the full specification link on the product page, then navigate to the "whats in the box" page in the product support section: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d975xbx/sb/CS-022038.htm

You will find that the oem version ships with no printed product guide, intergration guide poster, front panel, rear panel and only 2 sata cables.

Im glad i never pre ordered one now because i would be really miffed spending £158.57 when competitors sell the retail version for £160, although to be fair ocuk guarantees revision 304, which if im correct is the only version that will work with conroe chips out of the box, allbeit bashed up brown box rather than a shiney retail one. :p

That is kind of sucky. Glad I didn't pre-order one now, and if I had, it would have gone right back. When I pay close to £160 for a motherboard, you're damn right I want my shiny box and all the gubbins.

Can anyone confirm what kind of warranty the OEM ones have?

Did anybody pay the full 158 and get the OEM version so far? I will be miffed if mine shows up as OEM as this is not mentioned on the website at all.

Yeah dafloppyone and Ka0ticMind only got OEM even though they effectively paid the retail price.

Someone needs to send a webnote and clarify these are OEM.

If it follows the usual Intel system - No end-user support from Intel.
You'll have 3-12 months warranty from the retailer - most retailers will give you 12 months though.

It's like Intel CPU's.
OEM gives you a 12 month warranty with the retailer, whereas a retail gives you 3yrs directly with Intel.
I would have thought the Retail D975XBX would also come with a 3yr warranty.

dafloppyone said he paid 139. I was wondering if it was possible some OEM ones went out on a lower price?
Edit: Actually I guess he means the pre-vat price.
Edit2: I have submitted a webnote regarding my order asking whether they are all OEM, I will let you guys know what the reply is.

Dear David,

The motherboards we are stocking are the OEM versions of the board.

Frankly I am now considering cancelling my order, I dont see much point paying retail prices for an OEM product.

Well there's nothing wrong with an OEM mobo to be honest. It will still work as good as the retail one. The only bummer is the price.
