im pondering this route as well...but 2 GB of Geil DDR2 ram instead for a gaming rig. Is this wise?

No its not the asrock 865pe it has a ati chip set with on board gfx x300 which is ??it but is good for surfing the web will upgrade when all my old parst sale on ebay.I will be getting some ddr11 667 mem as soon as funds permit this is a good mobo apart from the fact you can not up the voltage to the cpu so im stuck with 3.5ghz but still not bad,on sandra 07 benchmark it comes close to a 4800 amd well its about 10% slower not bad for 82 pounds.
I hear the 1900gt are out thinking about getting one of these or a 7900gt or maybe a 1800xt which one should i go for?

I strongly advise going for the ASROCK 865 chipset if you are wanting to still use ddr1, as it does support conroe, and in 2months time, you will want one.

For ddr2 - check xs for motherboards which support conroe.

Yes thats why i bought one had to sale my agp card and old mobo and cpu to fund upgrade only had 140 notes so went for that mobo and d805 which is bloody good cpu for the money other wise i would had to go for a AMD Sempron 64 3400+ 2.0GHz (Socket 754) instead so thanks intel for letting as poor folk with 2 small kids upgrade to a such a amd spanking cpu.....

what superpi score do you get ?

Thanks for the info guys, I just spotted one for 33 all in. The downside is that no volt adjust but without a hefty HSF and PSU that is maybe for the best I guess.
Are these really ok for Conroe even with old DDR?

No thats not good at all but you've only just got the system so it might be sometihng in the settings.

A good time would be 45 secs or less. I was getting 1minute 30 earlier because my bios had throttled my cpu down to 13% power
