Intel Haswell Refresh Processors Codenamed Devil’s Canyon – Launching in Mid 2014 With Unlocked Desi

Yep, seen that oc per core setting on an Asus video. All my cores are at 45x. Passes real bench and stable in games, any lower on vcore and it will bsod on 0x124.

I think with all the rumours of 4790k oc to over 5ghz easy 4770k oc'ing is just pointless.

Also on release in September. Got this off reddit

First off, it's just a rumor.
Second, it's from an uncomfrimed source.
3rd, z97 boards are available now, very good and very capable enthusiast boards that no one is buying because they are all holding out for Devil's Canyon. If Devil's Canyon doesn't launch in June, then demand would drive down price until it begins to affect revenue for not only re-sellers, but the board manufacturers. That can't/will not happen.
4th, if you want a guestimate if Devil's Canyon will indeed launch in June, Newegg has MSI's super high-end z97 XPower motherboard set to launch on the 4th of June. Right around the time of Devil's Canyon rumored launch window. How appropriate, right?
5th, Haswell-E and Broadwell are due to launch in/around the Q4 of this year. Launching Devil's Canyon right around that time would be a ridiculous business move. There would be very little incentive to purchase Devil's Canyon with the new x99 platform inbound so soon.
TL;DR: It's just a rumor, take it with a grain of salt. I believe it will launch in June and hope it does not come in September. We will know in about 2 weeks.

Oh dear this isn't gonna go down well...

Devil's Canyon and Haswell-E Q3 and Broadwell desktop confirmed next year

Broadwell desktop is probably some soldiered on laptops SKUs I suspect for things like the Brix.

OTH,I thought Skylake for desktop was meant to be early next year??

It seems to be all rumour and here say...I'll wait until Computex 2014 begins before freaking out again. We'll know soon enough.... Come June 3rd or 4rd will know all

Skylake rumors have been for Q4 2015.

Broadwell was always Q4 2014 / Q1 2015.

Devil's Canyon is the disappointing one, as most thought it was coming in June.. It still might though, you never know..

I'm hoping it does? Why is Intel letting all the rumours run out of control? We'll know all at the beginning of Computex 2014. If it doesn't I'll get 4770k and live with it until broadwell is released. Happy that Broadwell will use z97:D

If this is true, what would be the best i7 for overclocking on z97 if purchased now?

Still the 4770k

And for those people who say z97 will support Broadwell. Just hope Intel don't stab you in the back and say later down the line.

"Z97 will support Broadwell CPUs i5 and below. If you want Broadwell i7 or overclocking then you will need to change your motherboard AGAIN due to a different chipset"

After the socket 775 days, going from P4 to core dual and how that upset some people when they had to change motherboards even though it was the same socket. I wouldn't trust Intel buying a z97 motherboard now thinking it will support all Broadwell CPU's.

If it actually turns out that the z87 doesn't support the haswell refresh K series then that proves my point.

Yeah sounds like a plan. Think I'll stick with 4770K up until Broadwell as well. It does 4.4Ghz, which I only use for benching etc. Happy with stock speed for gaming / desktop use.

Broadwell 14nm will be a decent upgrade.

I guess you don't wanna buy yet just in case it does launch in June.. Be nice if Intel could drop some official conformation on 4790K for those waiting..

The thing is if Haswell refresh for LGA is being released this year,it means desktop Broadwell will probably be BGA,ie,things like the Brix and iMac,and Haswell will be the LGA consumer socket for DIY builds until Skylake.

Otherwise Intel would not be making such a big deal about the Haswell refresh?? Notice how the "unlocked" CPUs are still Haswell??

It would seem weird to release Haswell refresh now and ditch it in 7 months time.

I could be wrong OFC.

I suppose that fits into the rumours of Broadwell being mostly laptop focussed,ie,better IGP and lower power consumption.

It could mean Hawell for LGA desktop might break two years??

I'm seriously debating if it's even worth upgrading to a z97 and 4970K, could always sell what i have now but only if it's worth the time.
I'm still hopeful that the 4970k will work on z87..i guess we'll see in june.

That's why I'm waiting until June.

pretty sure dc will be z97 only, might be why they are delaying release?

and there was rumours of broadwell being bga only,so not sure tbh, again its mostly rumours n hearsay

All this sounds a bit far fetched tbh. Seems daft that you'd need a new motherboard to support an existing socket. I'd be surprised if existing mobo's can't be used a month or so down the line with a bios update.

Will believe it when I see it. Either way I think I'll be sticking with my 3770k @5Ghz and save my pennies for something else.
