Intel Haswell Refresh Processors Codenamed Devil’s Canyon – Launching in Mid 2014 With Unlocked Desi

No, that's not meant to be the case at all, they are not allowed to be touched and then sold on.
They do bin the OEM'S (in that, they go in systems, but they're absolutely not supposed to bin and then sell) but when you buy an OEM, you buy a none binned one.

What do you think happens to the binned OEM chips that don't clock at all? Can't be sold in an overclocked bundle, do you really think they just throw them out? :P

There's stock bundles and stock systems, they'd go into them.
And a chip that doesn't clock at all must be pretty rare.

It's illegal to sell them as a brand new OEM CPU.

3 weeks after launch till stock available? ouch

wait until launch in that time you will see if they decent or not. seeing as not much hype around them i have a feeling woeful oc. if they were great theyd be singing and dancing everywhere about them.

Yeah but if only 10% of CPU's reach the top end system then that means they have to sell a tremendous amount of lower end systems just to find the exceptional chips, it would be easier to sell them separately.

It's impossible to prove that OEM CPU has been tested by the retailer so you'd be pretty naive to believe it didn't happen.

I don't know like, I've never seen a chip look brand new after it'd been in a board with a cooler and ran (You tend to see marks on the IHS as well tbh)

tbh id wait. september new ddr4 ram. so if you on a decent system already and these cpus arnt great clockers may aswell wait till next lot or atleast ddr4 ram change aswell.

I think this is one of the most exciting intel releases in modern times actually.

From an 980 and 920 owner...well soon to be..ex owner!
