Question - do ocuk take money now or at dispatch?
By Asus yes, as the beta BIOS states update for upcoming Devils Canyon and Pentium Anniversary processors.
is this the time to upgrade the 2500k? or wait yet again? decisions
I'm waiting more alongside the lines of Broadwell / DDR4 to upgrade my i5 2500k sandy.
That might be the line in the sand where there is enough of a good increase in performance to upgrade
The Core i5 2500K is the new Q6600 IMHO.
Cheers for the list, though i dont see the board im using listed but the bios for dc is available.
If buying new, you should just go for the z97 board and the 4790k. The prices are pretty similair on the boards anyway so you may as well opt for one due to the new features. Regarding the cpu, if the thermal issues have indeed been sorted, 4790k in a heartbeat. With the 4770k the risk of a hot runner is too high.So for those of us right now looking to do a completely fresh build, do I buy a Z97 or a Z87 motherboard?! And do I want and try to grab a 4790k, or get a 4770k and upgrade straight to Broadwell later?
While the Core i7-4790K central processing units (CPUs) should offer impressive performance even in default mode, the reason why computer enthusiasts are waiting for the new microprocessors to arrive is their improved overclocking potential. Apparently, the latter is indeed pretty impressive.
