Nice, 1.547 volts on air though . Hopefully a 4.5Ghz 24/7 Ghz clock might be attainable on these. They don't seem to have those temp spikes that 4770K gets.
4.5GHz is a failure in my eyes, in fact I will go as far to say unacceptable
Ragged on air!!!
4.5 LOL. Quick, get them 4770ks on ebay.
The initial excitement for devils canyon was for how well it would overclock with Intel touting it as built for the enthusiast, well we have our answer, it's a failure.
It's certainly not a failure, it's more of an improvement over 4770K than 4770K was over 3770K.
It's just that peoples hopes have been raised by false rumours and now they're angry that their hopes have been shattered.
The 4790K is just Intel's version of the FX9590, except in Intel's case they have:
1> Guaranteed a 500mhz overclock.
2> Improved temperatures.
3> Enabled additional features (VT-D, TSX-NI).
4> Maintained near enough the same TDP (only a 4W increase to 88W).
5> Not stuck a massive price premium on it.
All in all the people who are most disappointed are those already on a 4770K who are upset that it won't be worth the cost/effort in upgrading to what is undoubtedly a better all-round chip.
Quite happy that Intel re-enabled the disabled stuff on the Core i7 4790K TBH.
Would this be worth going from an i7 2600, grab a 212 EVO and new Mobo to overclock? Or not worth the cash/performance ?
I don't why people are getting in a tizzy over a few hundred MHZ overclock - 4.4GHZ to even 4.8GHZ,is not going to suddenly make unplayable games, playable!!
If I was in the market for a K series core i7,I would just get whatever was cheaper out of the Core i7 4770K or Core i7 4790K.
Where does the £50 pentium k keep up with the fx8350 in gaming precisely? In a few games in which it would keep up with a 4770k also? I see two benchies with a 8350 and the £50 chip in, and the stock 8350, stock and overclocked fx6300(£90) and the stock and overclocked FX4300(£70, in one case the fx4300 only beats the stock p-K) all beat the £50 Intel chip when it's overclocked at 4.7Ghz.
Exactly how is that keeping up with? 23fps vs 40, or 70 vs 50?
From the watchdogs bench you could extrapolate that a 8320 should provide almost double the performance of the overclocked pentium K and costs just over twice as much.
So you quote a tiny part of my post, where I mentioned the FX 8350 had been benched alongside the Pentium K, to show what performance is like in gaming. You used that to justify you moaning about a £50 CPU.
Like I said before, a £50 CPU that can overclock and has no probs keeping up in gaming and other tasks, there is very little to moan about there, but somehow some people try to find a way
You get a grip mate.
Take it easy.
Love Boomstick
Precisely. Like I highlighted, on top of DM's post, you can save £35 and still clock to the same range as the 8350. Ignore it all you like Broomstick, but this time it's your own comparison methods that failed.
Love Th0nt <-- Intelligence inside!
Me too. TSX-NI is very useful in specific circumstances.
Problem with the current 4770k's is the insane heat they generate, even at stock or the low oc's most now are only capable off.
