Don't see it this way at all. A newer chipset with updated features and support for 14nm chips isn't a cash grab, neither are improved chips aimed at overclocking. Sure those on 4770K don't need to worry about it, but it's nice for those thinking about upgrading this year from older stuff Sandybridge or older etc. Those guys will get the latest chipset with longevity and even better chips..
Way to much pessimism and negativity here imho. What have AMD done lately? Yet another bunch of rehashed APU's and oh yeah that's right nothing else
Good to see Intel making more overclockable chips, but really it's what they should have done in the first place with Haswell. £200+ for an unlocked chip (4770k) with a price premium to allow overclocking, that then doesn't even have a soldered IHS, was taking the **** a bit. I imagine Intel lost a fair few potential sales by releasing a series of chips with not only a small IPC boost but also limited overclocking ability due to temperatures.
It would be better for everyone (well, maybe not Intel) if AMD were more competitive at the higher end.
