Intel is planning to introduce their fourth generation Haswell Refresh platform next month in April. While the new platform is expected to be a slight tweak of the existing Haswell processor family, details from VR-Zone confirm that the K-Series Haswell Refresh processors would feature updated overclocking features and the improved TIM design.

Nice that they are finally fixing the TIM issue. Hopefully this will carryover to Haswell-E :)

Glad I didn't give in to temptation when I was considering buying a 4770K now.

E series are soldered. It's only the mainstream chips that Intel cheap out on the TIM. This is good news for those that can upgrade to these chips though. Slight speed bump, new process but no die shrink. Improved TIM. These might actually be nice chips. Those on Haswell I3's / I5's might have a worthy upgrade option.
 
Devil's Canyon is codename for a breed of hand-picked chips with "insane" overclocking potential. In addition to binned dies, the chips feature a performance-optimized TIM between the die and the integrated heatspreader (IHS). The dies will be placed on special "high tolerance" packages, with equally "special" LGA contact points. The chips will be designed with higher voltage tolerance levels. Devil's Canyon is expected to branded under the existing Core i7-4xxx series, possibly with "Extreme" brand extension. It will be compatible with motherboards based on the Z97 chipset.

These chips could actually be quite nice. Especially for those on i3 / i5 Haswell looking for an upgrade without changing mobo.

'Broadwell' will be on 9 series.

'Haswell' and 'Haswell Refresh' on 8 and 9 series.

The Haswell refresh is actually looking quite decent. More than just a slight speed bump. These chips seem heavily optimized towards overclocking.

Intel has so many new CPU and refresh CPU's coming out it's hard to keep up :p
 
Mmmm, will be tempted to buy one and sell it, just to see what improvements there are cooling wise. See no reason for an upgrade though, but this new TIM thing sounds promising. I heard talk of intel showing interest in CLP before, hopefully true as that would make the cooling very similar to soldered chip, however i cant see us being that lucky.
 
When i was reading about the Haswell Refresh last year i had a feeling they were going to be doing something about the Tim issues because every new Gen of Cpu was just getting hotter and hotter and it needed sorting.
