***Intel i7 4790K Owners thread***

Temps are ok yes. But don't use any later versions of p95, particularly 28.5. Your temps will likely shoot into the 90's or hit the chips tj max.

Thanks again

Ye I'm using version 26.6 apparently it's less stressful on haswell

my 4th core runs a lot cooler than the others about 7 degrees difference I wonder if that is the paste not been spread evenly

Hi,

Would I notice much going from my 4670 i5 to one of these? I mainly use it for gaming with BF4 etc or would it be a pointless upgrade performance wise?

Thanks :)

I did the same upgrade recently. Sure, BF4 will benefit but whether it's pointless or not depends on what FPS your GPU is achieving with the i5 just now?

You've got a single 980, right? I'm thinking your performance must be pretty good as it stands. The i7 won't add much, unless you plan to go SLI.

Your 4670k at 4.4 will be very similar to the 4790k at stock. The i7 only really comes into its own with sli in some games, bf4 being one. When I ran a single gpu I tried with hyperthreading turned on/off. Games felt the same.

Will stick with my i5 then. When are we likely to see a big leap on CPU's for around the same price mark and will the socket change?

So my 4670K should be good for a while yet then?

W H A T . . . . . . ?
dont touch your RiG!

no matter what you hear or read and even see with your own eyes, JUST DONT BELIVE IT!

what you have now is very much FiNE!!!

anyone itching for upgrade, just wait for the common Combo of 4K + DDR4 + Skylake + Pascal (or HBM by red).

those 4K will be very afordable soon
DDR4 will be better after all leassons learned and chipsets improved
Skylake _ (if it need a word then... utilize stacked mem)
pascal _ Stacked ram, shrinked arc', _ (called HBM at AMD)

i moved from 2600K + 16GB 1600mhz and boy that was a waste of money!
i do get faster speeds on media chopshops but... i could have waited.

Question for you guys all running the 4790K:

How much of a performance increase would I see moving from an i7-920? Currently running a single 970, probably moving to a single 980, looking to possibly SLI it later this year (depending on what happens GPU wise). I've had the i7 for almost 6 years now, I feel I'm due an upgrade.
