***Intel i7 4790K Owners thread***

The two dc chips I've had run far hotter than the 4770k I had under p95 at stock. Same case, cooler, fans and several remounts of the cooler.

Why are people de-lidding these? I thought this was meant to have improved TIM?

Yeah they don't. My 4770K (now sold) and my 4790K, both at 4.4Ghz with the same voltage (think it was 1.21v but can't remember) ran RealBench and a few other benches - both chips had EXACT same temps on all 4 cores, to the degree! I found that quite weird and what must be a gigantic coincidence, that the corresponding core numbers had same temps.

Mine was stable with various tests (Cinebench, Realbench), but needed more vcore with OCCT and Handbrake.

Well I mainly use my PC for gaming, and what I find a lot of the time is that various tests will be stable for over an hour, but 20 mins of Payday 2 or CSGO, and I get a blue screen.
So far with the above settings, I've not had a crash in a couple of days now, and I've done about 12 hours of Payday 2. So i'm gonna call it stable until I get a crash :P

I don't know why, but I want to get my system hitting 950 score in cinebench, then I can settle.

Spent a lot of time getting it up to 948 stable, but then came playing an actual game, only to discover my soundblaster z does not like 125 strap when encoding on the fly.

So now got to start all over again using default 100mhz...

Certainly the most difficult system I have ever had when it comes to overclocking.

Had memory up to 2500 on 125 bus, but on 100 I can not get 2400. So probably going to be settling on 2200 with tighter timings.

As for cpu oc.... Doubt am going to get 4.8, but 4.7 will be easy.

Don't think am going to reach that 950 score though :(

The temptation to try another chip is strong... Must resist!

4.7ghz on cpu, 4.5ghz on uncore and 2400mhz ram gives me 960 in cinebench.

ive just ran it @ 4.6ghz, you can see in the graph on cinebench my 4.7ghz score... not running 4.7ghz due to the heatwave. you on z97 chipset and what windows?

Have hit 953 at the same clocks too.

Those were on the first 4790k i had, yet to clock this one much due to this crazy heatwave were having.

Weird, now I'm getting like 895.

Running at stock at 1.080 and I get a score of 865, not sure why I bother keeping the OC on tbh.

Ive found with cinebench you can have some variation in scores after doing multiple runs. Probably down to background tasks running.
