Intel or Ryzen

46 degrees at idle with 20 degree temperature room. I do have my gpu radiator on the front of my case so it will at least be as hot as that. CPU is cooled by noctua nh-d14

EDIT: I'm sure it was hot before I got the AIO though as I never overclocked it because of it
my rad is mounted to the front of the case for the cpu and pulls air in.

GPU is a 2070S and uses the air cooler it come with.

I like the look of the 5950 and 5900
My 4770K is hitting mid 80 degrees now and cooling seems to be less than it was. The whole thing is falling apart.

I am going to have to start another thread in the motherboard section now.... it never ends
Nah, keep it in this thread. Might as well talk about the entire system.

Go with a solid B550 motherboard; unless you have a need for multiple NVMe SSDs X570 isn't really worth it (although you can get X570 boards for good prices).

Ryzen 5800X, MSI B550 Tomahawk, 16GB 3600 memory (something with Micron E die is the latest best I think).

As above Stick with B550, they are the same as X570 but without the PCIe4 Chipset that no one needs. MSI B550 Tomahawk is a good suggestion, i have the AX version of this one https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...2-amd-am4-b550-atx-motherboard-mb-593-gi.html AX means it has Intel Wifi 6.

I can't fault it, very good board i like it.

If you want something high end, more E-Peen https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...g-amd-am4-b550-atx-motherboard-mb-6fd-as.html

so would you guys recommend going with a 5800x instead of a 5600x? also what cooler would you recommend using for both?
For 8 cores + then get the either the 5800X or the 5900X, if you just want 6 cores then the 11400F makes more sense than the 5600X at current pricing.

Depends on budget. Personally I'd recommend the 5900X over both since it games as well as the 5800X but has plenty of cores to devote to the OS and all its background tasks whilst still having plenty of cores to game on.

But if you only want 6 cores, and are prepared to build a one-shot deal system, then I wouldn't even go Ryzen: 11400F with a solid B560 board is the budget king.

Depends what you want it for? if you're running an RTX 3080 and like e-Sports yes, its better than the 5600X and as good as the other two higher end ones, if you're gaming 1440P AAA titles it doesn't make much if any difference, a GPU lower end than that just get the 5600X anyway.

However, be warned the 5800X likes to run hot, as i described here.

The 5800X tends to run hot when under high all core load, its tuned for a higher all core frequency than the 5600X, 5900X and 5950X, all core it runs at about 4.7Ghz in Cinebench where as the other 3 only run at about 4.3Ghz all core.

Its just the way the 5800X is, its seems to be the one where AMD have said "this one is all balls to the wall, because reasons" trouble with that is it runs much hotter than the other 3.

I think maybe @Loxa is tarring them all with the 5800X brush.

Its not a problem anyway, the 5800X is just not the right CPU for people who just want to plug it in and play and expect cool temps without doing anything to it, if you want that get one of the other 3, however with a bit of tweaking the 5800X can run less hot and still boost to 4.7Ghz all core and <5Ghz in games.

I'm looking to get a 3070 and was wondering could I be bottlenecking it with my CPU it's a Ryzen 5 3600.

Unless you're playing at 4K i think it would.

The 11400K is a great CPU for its price, it is cheap, but its cheap for a reason, i'm not knocking it, it has its place but when we are talking about RTX 3070 and up territory that CPU is a false economy.

When i can finally get my hands on one I would probably be running a 3070 or 3080 (if it's at a decent price) and hopefully a 5800x. What AIO/fan cooler would you recommend using for it?

It's on par with a 5600X at 1440P + even with an RTX 3090.

A large high end tower cooler is probably best for it, if you want an AIO an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 or 240.

In every game?
