I have lost track what people are arguing about now. :p

Just another thread been turned into a AMD vs intel.
So far all weve worked out is ryzen is haswell with lower clocks and double the cores.
8700k is 7700k with 2 extra cores, slight bump in clocks, still runs hot and isn't soldered.

Benchmarks show 8700k faster than 1800x in single core by 25% and slower in multi by 5% at stock clocks for both.
141 pages and this is all we have to show for it :)
 
Still think it's most likely pointless, why bother for what will likely be a small upgrade and being stuck with no upgrade path.. at least keep your cash until a worthy upgrade comes along, so even if you're stuck with the same cpu for a while it won't matter as much.

I like what you're trying to do. Ryzen is the same as Haswell and these benchmarks yov've seen in your crystal ball show Coffee lake to be 25% faster than Ryzen.

So Coffee lake must be at least a 25% jump in performance over Haswell and overclock to great heights right? Erm no.

We worked out? no you, just you. Typically by looking at the facts and then round Haswell up by 5% on one specific benchmark.

You brought AMD into this thread by making comparisons like that.

I've said all along these are from the leaked benchmarks. We will obviously have to wait things other than cinebench.
25% comes from the single threaded cinebench score. Which obviously comes from the higher clocks. In fact when you take into account that haswell clocks higher than ryzen, haswell is actually faster.

What these? Thats not that great mate, its only 10% faster than the Ryzen 1600 None X. maybe with £200 cooling it will do better.

Yeah Haswell Clock for clock is 95% the performance of Zen. @ 3.9Ghz it was 153 Haswell vs 161 Ryzen, thats 5%

25% comes from the single threaded cinebench score. Which obviously comes from the higher clocks. In fact when you take into account that haswell clocks higher than ryzen, haswell is actually faster.

Unless Coffee lake is a huge departure from Intels design any gain can only come from clock speed, not core performance. Trying to imply otherwise will only lead to great disapointment.

And where did i say otherwise? I am well aware that the increase comes from clockspeed.

We have most of the pricing too. :)

EDIT: And we know that mainstream Coffee Lake isn't out 'til Q1 '18, along with the cheaper H370/H310 chipsets etc.

I thought your only interest was games? or is Cinebench in single threaded mode only now the only thing that's important?

Haswell does clock high but not high enough to make that much of a difference. in the end Haswell might be 5% faster per core with half the cores and twice the power consumption, its hardly a good resume for it.
 
Any news on h310 motherboards?

Now a h310 motherboard with a clockgenerator paired with the entry level 6 core would be interesting. Maybe Intel would turn a blind eye to bus overclocking as the platform has such a short like span. Or is that wishful thinking?
