Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

There are clear gains shown in that article and they didn't even tighten up the timings, AMDs articles plus better analysis done on the web tell you it prefers tighter over clock speed so anandtech aren't even trying :D CL14@3466 here, dropping to C16@3600 is about the same performance wise due to drop in latency. Should continue this I the AMD thread really, not clutter this one. :)

7700k is basically a 6700k. Prices will hold up well for a while yet.
I wish I could be as positive :D. I think this is a big change which will result in heavy hit to used prices of older i7 4 core CPU's. If the 8700k comes in at £350 with 50% more cores, IMO that makes a used 7700k worth £250 abs tops for even recent CPU's and less for older ones and 6700's.
Then again people seem to pay more than what I think used stuff is worth.
My best CPU buy was the 3770K, bought at the begining of it's lifecycle. 6700K bought for decent price albeit at end of lifecycle and just before too much new shiny stuff came out :p

Anyone notice the lack of Thunderbolt 3 for those Type-Cs at the back of the mobos? They're all USB 3.1, seems the mobo makers only put a Thunderbolt 3 pin-out on the motherboard, weird since it's something native to the chipset, you'd think mobo makers would market it more.

Z370 is Z270 so probably a add in card is the way to go. That or Thunderbolt over type c

Yeah I was more impressed with the 3600, assuming you didn't set the trfc to something ridiculous.

Not remotely stable for most uses at 3600, actually now since windows creator and all that crap can’t get more than 1800 and generally better performance with 3466 on mems. It’s working in 17-17-17-39 or 49 when running the 3600 with 4.1 on the CPU (1.45v). with the higher speed. Still planning to sack it off for the 8700k...

Quite excited about the 8700K and Z370 boards. I do think intel need to simplify the product range however now that the 8700 is going six core. Gains look great, coupled with someting like a 1080 is just going to be an awsome build.. maybe even a 'keeper'.

The extreme 4 board looks great and will hopefully be reasonably priced.

8700k looks good and fast, if it was 6 months ago I would definitely get one. Now I'll wait and see what happens with this new chipset coming out next year and ryzen refresh.

Some more motherboard prices for you all.

MSI Z370 SLI PLUS £135.72
MSI Z370 PC PRO £120.61
ASRock Z370 EXTREME4 £155.32
ASRock Z370 PRO4 £113.45
ASRock Z370 GAMING K6 £174.25
ASRock Z370 KILLER SLI £131.88

Obviously these are pre-release, but look very similar to what the equivalent Z270's cost now. :)

See my quote above, decent value for the Extreme 4.

Looks like the Gaming K6 for me as well if it's only £20 more than the Extreme4. A second LAN port could be handy. If it's significantly more or isn't in stock, the Extreme4 will do nicely.

Can I ask what you would use the second LAN port for? Never really seen a usage other than to use PC as proxy
