Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

Still don't see them as legit issues. It's as if people are expecting something beyond what needs to be released based upon the competition. Don't like it, buy ryzen and put up with its own set of issues which to me are worse.

Once I sorted memory and stable overclock I have none.

Constant bootlooping when booting from cold and I know I'm not the only one with this. My OC is solid, its this **** training process it goes through.
I'm also pretty certain that I have one of the CPU's affected with the segfaults bug as I got this on release day.

Yeah that would suck. :(

Contact AMD, and they'll send you a newer fault free CPU. No need to suffer with a bad chip.

Even intel stuff suffers from memory training issues. Fact is, these CPU's are not designed to run 3000mhz+ ram and do not officially support those speeds. If someone has got one 100% stable with no boot issues or crashes with real fast memory (like 3400mhz) it is just pure luck and that is all.

From experience ram overclocking is just complete luck and isn't worth the hassle and most of the time you just end up ******* in the wind. Even more so if you want to run a lot of dimms or a lot ram.

Have you seen the hoops you need to jump through for AMD to even consider sending you a chip?
Not worth it, ill pass this on and get a 8700k.
I'll return for zen2 if its any good.

You have a dodgy chip and you're unwilling to RMA it?

I'm not sure if it is dodgy I've never tested it by compiling anything. Its fine for normal use.
AMD seem reluctant to accept it as a fault and ask for screenshots of bios settings and whatnot trying to blame segfaults on overheating.

AMD's response potential RMAs
  1. Thank you for submitting your RMA. I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing stability issues with your system. Please be assured that I am here to help find a resolution to your problem

  2. Before approving your RMA, I would like to firstly perform some troubleshooting and focus on your system's hardware configuration.

  3. Please provide the details of the following hardware components in your system:

  4. • Make and model of motherboard

  5. • Motherboard BIOS version

  6. • Make and model of RAM

  7. • Make and model of the power supply unit

  8. Please could you let me know the current settings you have for the CPU VCORE, SOC, and RAM? It would be very helpful if you could provide with pictures of your BIOS screens with these settings.

  9. In addition, through troubleshooting with other customers we have found that the layout of the components inside the system case have caused sub-optimal cooling of the CPU causing a variety of issues.

  10. I would like to better understand your system cooling to rule out any thermal issues. Please could you provide a picture of the whole interior of your system showing the CPU cooler?

  11. Also, could you let me know the reported CPU temperature during heavy load or when the errors occur?

  12. Please be informed if we do not receive response to this email within next 10 days, your service request will get closed automatically in our system and you will be required to create new service request on your issue again.

That ^^ is nothing unusual, they have to rule out PEBUK before they let you go through the expense of sending it to them only for them to find you had a setting wrong.

Its not difficult to provide them with all of that.

Really, who else asks for that info?

Posts on the AMD subreddits suggest once you get to email a real person at AMD it's pretty painless. Gotta be better than keeping a duff chip. Get OcUK to RMA it if you're worried about hoops. They're the ones legally responsible anyway and have great CS.

Go and compile a linux kernel to give it a test; I'd be RMAing it if it has been segfaulting though...

You do know that the most common cause of a segfault is incorrectly set ram, or bad ram ? That in itself would cause constant bootlooping. Have you seen a segfault warning on your screen ?

Segfaults occur under load, booting from cold is hardly that. My system is solid apart from cold boots, its a well known bug and I wish people would stop telling me otherwise. Asus and AMD are aware and thus far dont have a fix, the only way I can ensure it doesn't happen is to boot at <3200mhz ram.
3466 CL14 is 4000% HCI stable yet it cannot successfully boot from it every time. Warm boots and restarts are fine, cold boots after a >12hr powerdown is completely random.

I will be testing for segfaults later using the "kill-ryzen.sh"

Anyone else think this is really rubbish if true

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/intel-core-i7-8700k-benchmarks.html

Can't even beat a 1600x in multi threaded stuff and in single threaded stuff it isn't even that great considering it is supposed to boost to 4.7ghz!

Either there is something wrong with the cooling in that omen pc he was using meaning it wasn't turbo boosting to 4.3ghz all core or 4.7ghz one core.....or it is a bit of a lame duck.

I will be honest, I was expecting this to be getting over 200 for the single thread score and pushing 1500 in multi..
