Intel Update: Conroe!

Ok, so a lot of the problem is around the launch dates, its confusing for us at times so it must be a mindfield elsewhere. From what i understand, our official launch is July 27th, thats when we hold all our press events and launch our new Core 2 Duo brand to the world.

The plan would then be that there is C2D systems available for the customer to buy, so we have to ship product much earlier out to the far east to enable all the likes of Dell, Hp etc to build and then ship to the relevant regions, in time for the launch, that was probably a week ago, we then ship product this week, to smaller integrators to enable them to also have product available. By their nature they can build and launch product quicker, so they do not need the product as early.

"If" some product leaks out onto the market, we have no control of that, so their is little we can do.

At launch i doubt there will be enough product for everyone, (If a product is good there never is!!!) PSP IPOD etc.

My understanding but not gauruntee is that we have product being shipped this week mainly on the lower speeds and as each week goes by greater and greater volume will be shipping. When you will recieve your cpu, will be dependant on which CPU, you ordered and how many back orders you have all placed with OCUK, sorry i cant be clearer, but theres not point me making it up. I will work with Gibbo to try and come back to you with more detail as soon as poss

From a broad view, my feel is that those with preorders will almost certainly recieve their CPU's by August, everyone else should be prepared to have to wait till early Sept (Only 5 weeks and boards are playing catch up with Cpu's)

I have to quickly point out that this is my view, and not an Intel statement and these are maybe slightly worst case scenarios, but i think thats the best way to be!

Thanks Intel Guy, I'm slightly optimistic with your and Gibbo's recent posts...When August was mentioned I was obvious very disappointed but am I right in hoping that those of us who have pre-ordered (mainly the E6600) could still recieve our CPUs within the next week? (best case scenario).

Worst case scenario is hopefully a not-so-bad 1st week of august release.

Would you say that's accurate?

ive not ordered a conroe myself but i was shocked reading through this thread at some of the comments made. Id just like to say that ocuk provide us forum users with a great service, giving us details of products and when they are arriving. I would be very dissapointed to see that go due to certain members causing trouble. I think everyone needs to learn that just because a date is placed for the release of a product, its not neccessarily going to be set in stone, as Intel Guy has already said, problems occur.

From now on gibbo i would suggest you re-word your information on the website to something like "expected to arrive on..." instead to prevent this.

Look, the facts are as follows...

INTEL DO NOT GIVE A TOSS about the "Smaller" resellers/system builders... Even if OCUK buy 5000 cpus they will not compare to the 100,000 that dell, hp, acer, fujitsu-siemens, etc etc etc... will be buying. If they did they would have released it a month later and had huge stockpiles of cpu's ready for launch...

It depends how you look at it, from what i remember the "Smaller resellers/system builders" make up something like 40% of WW numbers, so we recognise the importance of them, also there are thousands of people at Intel who work and are paid on these peoples performance. So there are a lot of people who do care. Sure we cant support all there needs all the time, but its no different for the Dell and Hp's

I hope your right :)

Well the impatience has finally got to me, I've just ordered a Intel Celeron D 326 2.53GHz so I can at least get my system up and check everything's working

Gibbo, how's the preorders on the E6300 OEM going? Are there any left now (ie not accounted for by preorders) and are there likely to be any left tomorrow and thursday? Cheers :)

If there is stock to ship to HP and Dell etc can you not source some of those Gibbo?

This stock will only become available if the big guys over order and need to sneak some out their back doors, I doubt that will be happening with Conroe........

Hi there

Yes about 150 left spare as long as we get 200 as promised, though this is a good reliable supplier so should get all 200 by Friday this week. :)

The thing that worries me is that the E6600 must be outselling every other CPU ten fold, so whilst there might be availabily on the rest of the range I'd be surprised if we see E6600's next week.

well found some that have the e6300(3) of them and 6800

there is another place that most stock for the e6600 is green but dont know if thats true entirely

Most places though that are selling the e6600 are

Due in 3-4 weeks on their website

Gibbo said OCuk asked for 1000 E6600 (if I remember correctly), that should be enough to cover backorders but with the shortages I don't see OCuk getting that many.

Strange question, but what happens if they try to deliver the package and your not home? I`m away for 10 days in august, so it may be an issue. Would they just keep it at the depot until i called them? Or would it get shipped back to ocuk and i`d have to pay for redelivery?

I ordered less than a day after the 6600's went up so hopefully i`ll be in the first set of orders ;)

I think it works like this.
They leave a ticket after the first failed delivery, which gives you the option of ringing depot.
I suppose if you don't contact them, they try again but IIRC the depot will only hold it for 7 days then it's returned to OCUK.

You could prolly find the definite answer here.
