Intel Update: Conroe!

To be fair the majority of HP and Dell customers would be magazine or newspaper purchasers and these wouldnt have conroe mentioned in them yet anyway (I have just checked a few daily papers to confirm most of the configs are Pentium D or M variety's) so while these firms are Intel's bread and butter I wouldnt bet at OCUK being able to outsell them both on a brand new line of cpu's for a couple of weeks at least

Just my take on things

PS Obviously overall sales would be heavily in HP's and Dell's favour ( no disrespect to Gibbo etc) but on the brand new line alone its entirely possible for the opposite to be true

Im glad I didnt pre-order now, some people have been waiting an age.

i pre ordered as soon as they where listed, ive now cancelled. i'll re order in a month or 2's time, once things have settled down.

Why are you shipping to HP and dell and shipping NONE to OCUK?

because Intel aren't gonna tell the biggest players on the block they're gonna be getting less chips cos we need to look after the little guys as well.

Intel Guy mentioned that they need to supply lots to HP and Dell really early because they need lots of time to assemble their machines in the far east.

I have a question for Intel Guy :-

Why if you are making enough to meet demand of X6800's are you not able to make enough 6600's or get any out to your customers?

Second question -

Why are you shipping to HP and dell and shipping NONE to OCUK? Surely some to everyone is better?

Simple, how many XE Cpu's do you think, Dell HP etc are ordering/expecting to sell? At that price point its a niche product and in reallity the number of XE's we have manufactured is very small, but we are managing to get them to right places, and to the people, who might be interested in buying them e.g here As someone said earlier previous releases of XE's have been really bad and there has been no availability.

A small success i guess :)

You are getting them to people like OCUK who are charging a fortune for them. I would upgrade my E6700 order if the price were sensible for an X6800... I just dont understand why other suppliers are not getting a fair share.

It smacks of a monoply tbh... One very upset Intel Customer

We try to be as fair as we can, other suppliers did get a fair share based on their demonstratable demand. Its a high end product and there is little point in us handing them out to all our customers as hardly any of them have a customer base wanting to purchase them. Im sure you would agree with me that if a typical XE buyer was profiled to identify where they would choose to buy an XE, OCUK, would be high on the list. They were not the only reseller to recieve XE's as someone earlier said there have been other resellers who recieved stock, but OCUK were able to demonstrate significant demand for them, so it made sense for them to recieve a large amount.

Ok i'm new to the forum but have been a long time ocuk customer and they've done me well over the years. However this event has put a black mark against there name.

I specifically contacted the sales department if they had any E6600 in there warehouse and if i ordered one today would it be shipped out monday, or are you just expecting stock monday. This was there response

Thank you for your webnote. We currently do have stock of these items but are unable to ship them until Monday as this is intels official release date.

so i ordered one, along came monday and by mid afternoon i hadn't received an e-mail saying it had been dispatched so i filled in another webnote quoting the order number questioning whether it would ship today, is there any hold up i should be aware of

response

We expect to be able to ship them within the next 48 hours.

Thats a little later than expected but still fine, no mention of the fact they haven't got any ...

I then checked the site today to see that they were going to be sometime in august now, so i came onto the forum and found this thread to find that ocuk
didn't have any of the E series conroe's and never had.

So I contacted them again quoting the previous contact and what this thread suggests.

The reply was

All the initial stock that we had has been sold and we are currently awaiting more stock but this is not due in until August so we have had to put them back on Pre-Order.

Is this true reflection of the situation or not. I am now a little dubious of what i am told.

In the interest of protecting the customer services / sales team i have removed there names from the quotes

Hey Intel_Guy, it's probably not a good time to mention the un-released X6900 (not a typo). of course, you cannot speak of un-announced products. ;)

somthing like stock speed of 3.2Ghz. So is this coming soon?

ok, so that was just a bit of fun, hmmm, or was it?

Also, is Kicking Pat going to the Apple WWDC :) Maybe Steve Jobs will announce at the conference when us PC fanboys will get our cpu's, now that would be funny, not.

Anyway, just having some fun here and trying to lighten up the mood.

I wonder how many 6600's went to dell and HP, 100,000's no doubt to sit in their warehouses until they are ready to produce their new product lines. How much do OCUK need now? 1000?

I cannot believe HP or Dell would miss 1000 CPU's when they deal in much larger quantities.

I think someone who is sitting on such large quantities of CPU's as dell and HP could better absorb 1-3 weeks wait for an extra 1000 CPU's compared to OCUK who have none.

I cannot believe someone has not said "all these guys want is 1000 CPU's" is it that much to ask?

I have another question for you INTEL Guy. I appreciate you addressing my previous ones.

Question on everyone's mind. What can "we" do to speed things up?

Excellent point!

Come on Intel Guy (I won't use your real name on here) nab us some of DELL's, HP's or whoevers stock. Like I say we need 1000 units like last week. The likes of DELL will just have them collecting dust. Get us our stock I don't care whether it be OEM or Retail product as you can see OcUK customers are demanding stock! Sort it out m8! :) ;)
