Intel Update: Conroe!

the board has two bios so if you mess up settings you have the option of booting from the other bios
i'm pretty sure the DS3 doesn't use a dual bios method like most Gigabyte boards do. it usual a virtual bios as a backup rather than a second physical bios chip.

Yea I'm rocking a Celly 326.. runs my 7950XXX fine.. erm... not.

I bought the exact same cpu just so i could flash my Asus P5W DH ready for me E6600 that as we all know has not materialised. I must say though im quite impressed with it. I have it running currently on a 200fsb for 3.8ghz :D using an arctic cooler, its converting an avi to mpeg at the mo and it's hovering around 67c. That is at 1.5v, although the asus vdroop prob makes it 1.45 under load. I must say im pretty new to the Intel side again so not sure what is the standard clock for these. But for a £30 cpu, a 1.3ghz overclock is not too shabby so far.

Let the Celly 326 clocking wars begin!!

Darn it!! I tried to resist this Conroe malarky, as I felt my D940 was only a little slower than the E6300....

But, that's with the E6300 at stock vs my OC'd 940, so I couldn't resist and have just ordered one for some overclocking action this weekend!!

I've already got a DS3 board, so I'll let you know how it goes!

I still don't really get what the dual bios does. Would someone care to explain? Tooks, if you would say how that board goes we'd all be greateful I expect. Thanks.

Dual Bios is essentially 2 bios chips on one motherboard IIRC. Basically you are safe if one bios corrupts or you suffer a bad flash, power cut whilst updating the bios etc. You can still boot from the second chip and reflash the corrupted bios.

Theres only one bios chip on my ds3 the back up for it,is stored on the hard drive as an image file, this is no way as good a set up as the gigabyte boards that have 2 bios chips.

The DS4 has dual BIOS for certian

Here's looking forward to the weekend :) I just changed my order from an E6400 to a 6300OEM.

:D :D :D

Have fun to all those who get their orders by the weekend.

Gigabyte have used dual bio's for quite sometime, i have 2 systems that use gigabtye motherboards one is over 4 years old with a 1ghz athlon that has dual bios and another with an 1700 xp which also has it, i've always found the higher end gigabtye boards excelent for overclocking. I've got by ds4 sitting itching for my e6300 which should hopefully arrive tommorrow.
