:D

Yep my E6300 has just shipped as well !

Happy days! In a way I am glad that the E6700 OEM stock has only just come to light, otherwise I might have been tempted and would be a bit more out of pocket !!

Cant wait to do some overclocking with this chip. Got an ASUS P5B Deluxe here with an Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7, along with some G.Skill DDR2-667 I hope to get a 330MHz FSB, which should see the E6300 at 2310MHz.

:)

But how much are we really going to enjoy these 6300's? I know I have ordered one but hitting 3GHz with one of them? Unlikely...

It really depends on your board and ram. If you're ram can cope running 1:1 and hit 429mhz along with your board, you're laughing :)

Obviously it depends on how good these production/retail steppings prove to be, but for the budget chips like this then it is obviously reliant on good motherboard choice. The Intel P965 based chipsets all seem to be doing well with the Allendale E6300/E6400 processors for O/C probably due to the reduced L2 cache. (And reviews also show the 975x based ones are doing just as good, if not better!)

You would need a 430MHz FSB to get 3Ghz (430*7). It's going to be a struggle getting this level of FSB completely reliable and stable with the current crop of motherboards and just with air cooling alone !

I would be happy with a 330MHz FSB at the moment.

At least I have saved a few pennies and might consider a kentsfield quad core later in the year (or more likely mid 2007 going by Intels recent delays!)

I'm not oc'ing mine, its for a system I'm building for a friend, thik he'll be chuffed though compared to his P4 s478 2.2ghz, how does the e6300 match up clock for clock?
