Intel Update: Conroe!

last comment - else this thread decends into closure terratory.

I am just soooo upset despite buying all my pervious kit for the last 5 years from OCUk that the price of Conroe's is just so high in comparison. Thats why it hurts when you say you will get all the stock. Its just not in the interests of me as a customer. I just done understand

We markup product at a fair margin, were here to stay in business, why should we sell product at near cost, when we have to back it up and warrant the product. Wages to pay and overheads to cover.

Anybody can setup a website and sell products cheap or near cost but most of them change hands quicker than most people have hot meals or just end up going bust. As OcUK is here to stay we make sure cost are covered. Remember this is a very expensive CPU so a couple of percentage makes quite a price difference. One Etailor maybe happy to make 5%, OcUK is not....

That would cause a lot of problems.

As when you/customer place order you have funds available if we were to wait and charge the card you may not have funds and hence take you overdrawn or decline payment.

Or you may completely forget you've placed a backorder and when a month later a large SUM of money dissapears from your account could get scary.

Then there is the fact you may pay on a card that expires shortly afterwards.

Not taking payment when order is placed is just opening the door to a whole host of problems.

Imagine how annoyed you would be if you were 1st in the queue and stock came in but you never got yours because when attempting to charge the card there was issues and as such you missed out.

This is why payment is taken immediately as then you the customer gets no surprises and you get your product at the earliest possible time.

hey mate, i do find myself agreeing with you on this take money straight away on preorders deal - as i myself have preordered stuff with other companies in the past and completely forgot about it before and have spent a while racking my brain as to where X-amount of money has gone until said items do turn up.

however, it might be worth mentioning on Pre-Order items or even somewhere on the website that OcUK do take payment on pre-orders straight away.
mainly because most companies these days seem to take money only when items are shipped.

See with preorder they take money out of your account straight away so that they can make interest on your money straight away :) its not a bad idea if I say so myself ;)

This is why im gonna stick with amd, they will come with response to conroe, and i doubt it will have the dissapoint you boys are facing now.

Basically Intel have buggered up here, like im not suprised. Blaming ocuk, the guys that have served us well for god knows how long is pure stupidity.

Gibbos only mistake was telling you boys what he knew, i know in a similar business, if you get told a week you tell the customer 2 weeks, if it comes like planned then youve a delighted customer, if not though you havnt got witch hunt on your hands! lol

After this dont be suprised if dates and info for components are lot more conservative, thanks guys

Gibbo - I have been a customer for many years, I have easily spent thousands with you, both on a personal level and Corporate.

This is the first time, in over 5 years that I have felt slightly let down, but just to clarify, this is not your doing.

Today's dissapointment will not affect my purchasing decisions not now, or in the future, I am happy to shop with OCUK.

You're doing a great job for us all, even at 22:00 tonight! You show dedication and passion, you also feel our pain. so please keep it up and thank you.

Best Regards,

If you ordered it all on one order then it will ship when all items are in stock.

If you wanna get bits sooner call sales and they can backorder the out of stock items for and ship the in stock product out.

Though do it first thing in the morning as we still have P5W DH Deluxe boards in stock, it only say not in stock on the website because all the stock is assigned to backorders, so essentially no longer available even though in stock.............

Not into phones answer them all day long

So basicly I order all the parts cept for core 2 and add core 2 to a different order and as soon as everything is avalible in first order that will come and when core 2 is in stock that will come later? Think thats right sorry prolly a stupid question.

OCuk is still the only e-tailer i have ever bought with that have not made me feel like i need to constantly checkup on them, granted im not currently in the market for core2 but still this is a situation that is out of your hands. i like to give credit where its due and this bugger up with Conroe deserves credit for OCuk and the efforts you make to secure stock. Most e-tailers would fob you off with an unaswered phone call in this situation, i remeber trying to buy RAM off one of these others, they had it in stock but they cocked up and it took 3.5 weeks to get my product and 2 days of trying to contact them, OCuk shows great backbone by keeping in touch with customers and letting them know whats going on. havnt ever had the need to call customer support so I cant really comment on your phone service but it seems people here can get through easy enough, which like i said earlier is more than can be said for others, this is also why OCuk charge more cause you pay for custoemrs service aswell

So credit where credits due, and its due here methinks

OcUK definately the best online shop I have done buisness with but City Link, a force to be reckoned with, lolololol. Twice they went to the wrong house in 2 days. I live at 78 and they went to 38. I would have not known a thing unless I rang them in to complain. Bring back RMSD.

Well Gibbo's dedication is good to see, and this lashup from Intel is not OcUKs fault.

However, some claims Gibbo m8 that you have made haven't always been true :( (I can't remember any of them - but I can remember that I knew it wasn't true). Still most of the time its true so its all good there. I haven't looked to see if there are E6600s availible now because it does not concern me.

@ Prices, I as a customer wants to get the product as cheap as possible. If I can get my setup cheaper elsewhere I will. You may be out to get a profit, but many customer want as cheap as possible. On many occasions now I have spent full wack on new things. Eg First Batch of 3700+ San Diegos, 6800 U PCI-E and then a X1900XT from OcUK. Now I have realised I am spending far far far too much on hardware, so im not going to buy at launch, but two months after.

So now Im going to be finding the best price out of the reputilble etailors. Now if that isn't OcUK then they won't get my buisness. I bought a 3200JB SE HD today from OcUK, because I wanted it next day and I will get it next day (sent 2 hours after order - awsome!). But if I wasn't in a rush I would have saved £5 and used someone else with cheaper RM P&P and slightly lower prices. Now, with my next setup, E6600 + mobo + ram + PSU it may be OcUK, or it may not be, it depends on the prices and stock availibility (stock isn't an issue mostly because of Andy's awsome stock skills  ) If the price difference is less than like 5% of £600 then OcUK will get my buisness, if its more then sorry, next time ;)

So, OcUK, 9/10 support, 9/10 for product range and 9/10 for pricing, sort the posatge on small items and we are looking good! :)

Don't take this as bad critism, just constructive ;)

Intel have bummed us all, including OcUK. Intel have also lost some of my respect to be honest. It's all going well for Intel - they're milking sales of the premium-priced X6800 and hold back mainstream products (dirty & underhanded, yet effective in generating maximum profits).

Gibbo, keep up the good work on the forums, I think you're a great product manager. I shop here for a variety of reasons, one of them being the inside info provided by people like you. Only a handful of people in this thread have replied in a distateful manner whilst the majority of people have handled this in a totally civilised manner and not blamed you at all. I hope you keep providing us with inside gossip/info, this place wouldn't be the same without it!

Just to reiterate what was said earlier on: don't shoot the messenger! :)

Its only a few weeks boys..

I know it is hard when you have been waiting a long time already but to be honest, we all know what its like when new tech is released. We have seen this time and time again. Is anyone really that surprised?

Remember the X800 XT PE I waited months for that. Its always the way...

There are however a few plus points. They will start filtering in albeit slowly. More motherboards and better support will also be ushering in over the next few weeks, and your post counts will no doubt double due to the excitement of the wait ;)

No offence, but it makes absolutely no sense for Intel to hold back stock of the mainstream products just to get the maximum profit from the x6800. I mean come on, the profit from that single SKU are going to contribute to less than approx 0.0000001% of Intels quarterly results.
