Intel Xeon 3200 Series arrive at OcUK!!

These are cheaper quad cores, if they offered the games with these then nobody would want the more expensive ones.

Cheaper quad core
more expensive quad core with 2 free games

= spreads the sales between the two.

Just to add, technically these are aimed at single cpu, quad core server markets, and the others are aimed at top end desktops. So there is no need to offer the cpu that is going to supposedly going to be used for server use with free games, save that for the desktop variant where games are very likely to be played.

But these CHEAPER Xeon 3210 quad cores also come with only an 8x multiplier.
The Xeon 3220 is MORE expensive than the equivalent Q6600 and still does not come with the games !!

Well as has been said earlier the xeons are likely a better batch, and use less power and run cooler. SO in theory worth the price hike.
The 3210 looks like it might be finding its way towards me soon :p

To put it simply, you would have to be a total moron to go and buy a 3220.

3210 4tw!

what does it clock to?

Stock at the moment, im running some time critical tasks on it that need 100% stability guaranteed, after i intend to spent Saturday overclocking to the last hz. :D
For the few hours i had fun poking it, i got to 3104mhz stock vcore, prime stable. :)

I'm suspecting 3.5 to be the average overclock with water (and luck) and yes I am ************g mad that I missed out getting hold of one the other night - me n my farting around with the cart be4 checkout.

Think availability on these bad boys is gonna be tough.

Mind you they are Xeon chips

Looking very promising indeed. Some of those temps are kind of worrying, and I guess it will mean me needing to do the Vdrop mod on my board (although I'll probs replace that too!)

3.5GHz would be drool worthy, and to think I'm planning on watercooling over the summer. Much fun to be had here I think!

Well this kid recogns he can get to 3.5 on air but I wouldn't take his word for gospel

ES chip, cherry picked probably though i don't know for sure and want to believe they are the same as these late retail models.

Mine was on passive water (2*120.2 rads)

Will bolt my 4 delta's on and test further, very soon.

Thanks lay-z for the info. I always did think that something was " not quite right " when I was reading up on him.

Looking forward to some overclocks from you buddy :)

Cheers
