Yeh I'd been up all night working, did my usual tactic of leaving everything to the last minute, all handed in now nice and early. so I can chill out for the rest of the day. Only two fairly easy assignments to be done now, both in on the 11th and nothing else to really do until then! - so I needed a new toy to play with ;)


I was going to wait until I'd checked my bank balance before clicking order, but saw there was 3 left and thought at worst, the order will be refused for not having enough money! Turns out I had a plenty large enough cushion left in my student loan!
Wish I bought it last week though, both my machines have spent the last week solid rendering videos from 3dsmax and converting video files.

Oh well will have 3 cores spare i guess.

Should make a nice improvement to FS10 im hoping also.

Anyone got any reviews??

Likewise, just got mine through.

I'll still be taxing it, I do work in 3dsmax for personal enjoyment aswell as the course!
Although I am less likely to render videos that take 30 hours to render!

Mine wont really be getting stressed to be honest, but at that price i thought sod it.

I had been wanting a 6600 for a while (dual core) but since the price's have dropped decided to treat myself to one of these instead :D

Should see an improvement in flight sim 10, and also i do the odd bit of vid encoding.
 
guys if you dont mind how about some overclock results when they arrive? :D

i am so close to buying one, but might hold out for the new G0 revision cores, since i am in no rush for a new cpu but if 3.0ghz is easily possible then dont think i can hold any longer.

i will be happy if i can get it upto 3.2ghz again, like i had with my 6400.

400mhz fsb will do me fine. Any more and :D any less and :mad: lol
 
I'm quite hopefull with this chip. My e6600 never went as far as I wanted with casual overclocking. Didn't really put much effort into it, because if I broke something I'd be stuck between a rock and a hard place here at uni on my course!
If I can get 3GHz I'll be well happy. :D

Mines been delivered to the Uni post room. Can't collect it till 1pm though!
Not long to wait :)

Will get it installed straight away, as I'm pretty sure I'm running a bios that will suppport it properly.

Same stepping as mine mate.

3DMark 06 score is only 600 points off of what my e6600 was getting at 3.4GHz.
Thats at stock :D
Temps are nice too.
Under load in Orphos at stock the first 2 cores are at 60degrees and the 2nd two cores are at about 50.
 
what heatsink u using?

i noticed using my card that the chip has a slight bulge in the ihs in the middle, but dont want to lap it lol


I have a huge gemini II waiting to go on it. keeps my 6400 at 3.2ghz at under 45c so hope it will be ok with the quad

Sounds good apart from those stock temps, also what voltage you running it at. Lol i want to go home

Seems my score might be lower than it should be. I think I may have left Orphos running in the background whilst running 3dmark! :o :D

My chip looked nice and flat at a quick glance, but at the moment I'll just leave it, might look into lapping and so on when I get watercooling and really pushing it.

Currently I'm running a Zalman 9500. Temps are only slightly hotter than what my e6600 was at 3GHz.
 
Seems either Orphos wasn't running, or it was not really running since 3dmark06 was using all the cpu power.
Happy with that score for stock settings.

Board is an Asus P5B deluxe wifi.

I'm wondering whether all the cores are running properly, since the temps on cores 3 and 4 isn't anywhere near as hot as 1 and 2 under load.

*looks about if there are meant to be any drivers or anything*
